#didyouknow THE BAPS SHRI SWAMINARAYAN MANDIR in Toronto is Canada’s first hand-carved stone and marble Hindu temple built according to ancient Indian principles, in a tradition that dates back many millennia. It’s a stunning structure that evokes the mystical beauty and spiritual essence of India. Carved entirely of white marble and limestone, the mandir (a Hindu place of worship) was designed using traditional engineering principles without the use of steel or nails, or rei...nforcement from ferrous material, even in the foundations. The temple was made by about 1,800 craftsmen in Rajasthan, India, and then shipped to Canada. The 24,000 hand-carved stone pieces were reassembled by 101 volunteer artisans from India, who lived on the construction site for two years. Amazing times at Thursday Social where Natalia, Joao, Edgar, Jhon, and Danielle spoke about life and BANANAS. We learnt a lot! Edgar told us that In French, there is an idiom I’ve got a banana. It means i’m happy! Natalia made an AMAZING presentation about different kinds of bananas. We were surprised there were so many! We also discovered that in Brazil, bananas are served with every meal, together with rice, beans, and meat. Wow!... Jhon introduced us to ajiaco, an amazing Colombian chicken soup that contains corn and potatoes. It’s served with capers, avocado, sour cream, arepas and.... bananas on the side. You add these to your ajiaco soup and feel happy. So cool! We also did a banana trivia. Did you know that banana translates to Latin as food for wise men? Oh yes!
