Pray for essential worker, especially those who ride transit every day. (As well as the drivers) That they and their families would be safe. Pray that employers would continue to look for ways for people to be able to work from home. Pray for generosity and an openenss to see these opportunities in those situations where it can make a difference.

In the midst of the latest pandemic lockdown, may you take a moment to be blessed by the beauty of creation, to take the time to do something fun and to check in with someone else.

As followers of Jesus, part of our discipleship is taking time to prepare to face temptation. This is not only for our sake and righteousness, but the way we demonstrate character and faith in the face of temptation is a powerful witness to Jesus, a glimpse of the Kingdom of God. The Centre for Public Christianity have a video that talks about this (And is a follow-on from their video posted last week) here: https://www.publicchristianity.org/mlk-the-march-for-votes/

Around Milton there are a number of businesses which have recently closed for good, just a small snapshot of the difficulties being faced across the province as we all wrestle with the challenges of COVID-19 over the last year. Pray especially for the people connected to these businesses, the owners, their families and the staff. If you are doing O.K. through COVID, it's also a good time to look for ways to be generous and support our local businesses. (As they are all doing it tough)

This coming Sunday we will be looking at Jesus temptations in the wilderness, something that followed immediately after his baptism and the start of his ministry. I'm not sure that our culture today takes the question of how we face temptations seriously, let alone how we prepare for such trials throughout our lives. In terms of both the topic of temptation and Black History Month, we will be looking at the example of Martin Luther King Jr and the way that through both his sp...eech and actions, he resisted the temptation towards violence, for both himself and those who supported him. The Centre for Public Christianity have a short video which looks at the faith and commitments that were foundational to his approach to seeking justice. https://www.publicchristianity.org/mlk-power-and-non-viole/
