KPMB Architects’ 2020 Project Openings - We are grateful to all our clients who led the way and kept us focused on the future through these nine months of uncertainty. They kept us going, with their dedication to the completion of strategic projects such as supportive platforms for education and culture that will be ready for the post-pandemic world, and several housing projects that are ready to be lived in immediately. Canadian Architect - Four Tributes: Barry Sampson, 1948-2020 Adding to the obituary by colleague George Baird, a group of early colleaguesand lifelong friendspay tribute to the memory of architect Barry Sampson, who passed away on December 5, 2020. Joost Bakker, Bruce Kuwabara, Don MacKay and John van Nostrand were classmates with Barry at the University of Toronto’s school of architecture in the late 1960s. Upon graduation, they approached George Baird to work at his then-...solo practice. They would remain close for many years, even as each pursued their own paths of practice. At John van Nostrand’s invitation, each has offered a tribute to Barry Sampson. https://www.canadianarchitect.com/four-tributes-barry-samp/
In 2020, despite the global pandemic, the RAIC - IRAC, Ontario Association of Architects, Canadian Architect, Azure Magazine, The Architect's Newspaper and World Architecture News marched on with their awards programs recognizing that architecture matters and will matter even more in our post-pandemic future. The awards always give us an opportunity to celebrate the vision of our clients and the talent and expertise of our teams. Thank you and congratulations to all! https://www.kpmb.com//roundup-of-2020-architectural-award/

Explore the new Allied Music Centre at Massey Hall & Roy Thomson Hall - Etched in the psyche of both the country and the City, Massey Hall has survived with very limited patron, artist and performance support spaces for over a century. Triggered by a recent donation of land, this project represents the full transformation and revitalization of the heritage hall and includes a new addition. Exterior passarelles will connect the balcony levels to new patron amenities, two additional performance spaces, along with a recording studio and lounge. https://www.alliedmusiccentre.com/explore-the-allied-music/

"We proposed a sinuous building surrounded by regenerative gardens that will signal a radical new beginning for the AGNS, the Waterfront, for Nova Scotians, and... the world of art.
