Our talented, local musicians have had a quiet year. We will be catching up with some of these musicians in the next few weeks, creating conversation and seeing what they have been up to. First up in our Musician Series: Justine Vandergrift How have you been creating during this past year, and has the past year put any influence on your music? ... Like every performing musician, I lost my main source of income due to Covid 19. It took a few months to realize it wasn't coming back anytime soon so I enrolled in some online courses through Athabasca university and began teaching a few weekly guitar and voice lessons online. I have also had a lot of time and inspiration for new material for my next album! For this album I will continue to record and mix all the songs myself. I recently rented a cabin in the foothills and came up with some fun new songs, one of them "Mountain Standard Time." What is one of your favourite memories of performing? I am hopeful I'll be able to perform again at outdoor events this summer. I have excellent memories of the show I played with my band for the Lacombe Performing Arts Centre pre-pandemic. The Lacombe audience was so warm and responsive and we loved being able to get into the songs in the lovely new venue! Check out Justine's new song, Mountain Standard Time, here https://justinevandergrift.bandcamp.com//mountain-standard

With the increase in COVID numbers in Alberta, and AHS new guidelines coming into place, we are cancelling this event. The disappointment for the committee, th...e artists, artisans and our devoted customers is palpable, but we believe this is the best decision to support our province and each other. We wish everyone the very best for the remainder of 2020, and that 2021 will be a much better year for all of us. With gratitude for your support and understanding, The Lacombe Arts Endowment Committee The committee additionally wants to thank everyone for their suggestions! They are currently working with Lacombe Regional Tourism to have an online option for the market shortly. Please stay tuned!

We are at it again! Partnering with AnnaMarie Lea of The Cow Patti Theatre Company to bring a brand new workshop to LPAC - this one is for the ladies! This will be a time for women to gather and share in their experiences as women, whether it be moments we experienced during the pandemic, raising kids, balancing our careers, falling in or out of love, menopause or world issues. All this discovery and writing and performing will be done through a COMIC LENS and will be a momen...t to gather, share, learn, and laugh. AnnaMarie has worked with actors - directing, teaching and workshop-ping for 30-plus years but leading a womens class in this format is new to her and she is so excited to spend time with women who have the same thoughts, aspirations, fears and hopes as herself. Her goal in this new project is to inspire and encourage women to have a voice through the theatre and envelope it all in a moment of feeling valued and heard. Most importantly, her wish is that she can guide and inspire women to enjoy and celebrate who they are and help bring to the surface all their wonderful hidden talents. Sign up by contacting LPAC today!

Even with the loosening of the COVID regulations relating to vocal performances, the Lacombe Performing Arts Centre has decided to cancel Music in the Park for August. With the restrictions still in place on crowd size and social distancing, the configuration of the park at the LMC makes it extremely difficult to put safety procedures in place that can meet all the guidelines asked for by the Province of Alberta. LPAC is looking forward to offering Music in the Park for the 2021 season and hope to see you then!
