The Ladysmith & District Credit Union would like to honour all women leaders on this International Women’s Day! This year's theme for International Women's Day from the United Nations is Women in Leadership. Here at LDCU, we have experienced the strength of leadership from our women directors for decades, starting with our second Board President, Helmi Kotilla who was possibly the first female Board President of a Credit Union in BC. She was appointed President of LDCU in 19...47 and served until 1954. Under her guidance, the Credit Union gained a solid foothold within our community, establishing a strong foundation for future growth. Ms. Kotilla also blazed a trail for future women on LDCU’s Board up to the present day with our current Board President, Elaine Layman. Ms. Layman has served on our Board since 2009, and has been our President since 2018. Ms. Layman brings incredibly strong credentials to her role, including the Institute of Corporate Directors designation, the highest available director designation in Canada. On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate both Helmi and Elaine, and all the women who have worked tirelessly for the past 77 years as directors, managers and staff towards the success of the Ladysmith & District Credit Union!

The Ladysmith Resources Centre Association is delivering a unique, safe and active family-friendly experience by taking community members on a literary adventure through Brown Drive Park. To our members: As part of Ladysmith & District Credit Union’s commitment to provide support to all our members and local businesses, effective immediately all Interac e-Transfers can now be performed at no cost to you! We appreciate all of our members co-operation in our attempt to minimize COVID-19’s affect on our small community. Whether a member of LDCU or not, we value everyone!

UPDATE 2:30pm: Interac e-Transfers are now functional. Our banking system has been successfully updated, however we have identified an issue that affects the ability to send and receive Interac e-Transfers at this time. Our team is currently working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Update 9pm: we have re-established all connections and are fully functional. Currently, our Internet provider is experiencing a significant outage which is affecting MemberDirect online banking, ATM, and Point-of-sale (member card) transactions. We are monitoring the situation and will provide an update when it changes.

During this COVID-19 crisis, and as part of a new series of measures announced by our provincial health officer, Ladysmith & District Credit Union, LCU Insurance, and LDCU Financial Management have implemented a policy to protect our members and our employees. As part of this process, we now require all employees, members, and clients to wear a face mask or appropriate face covering when entering any of our branches or subsidiaries. Professional development remains indispensable in guiding the strategic direction of Ladysmith & District Credit Union. We would like to congratulate Elaine Layman who attended the CUES Governance Leadership Institute program and graduated with the Certified Credit Union Director, (CCD) designation. We would also like to congratulate Gerry Clarke who completed the Credit Union Director Achievement program and is now a CUDA graduate.... Congratulations to both directors!

To our members: 2021 is quickly approaching, and in preparation for our Ladysmith & District Credit Union year-end, we will be performing updates and maintenance on our banking system. We will begin maintenance on Sunday, November 22nd 2020 at approximately 1:30am, and anticipate completion by 7:30am. During this time, Online Banking will be inaccessible, and Debit Cards will function with offline limits. This past weekend, on August 29th 2020, our community suffered a tragic loss which affected all of us in many ways. Ladysmith is known to be an extremely close-knit and caring community and we are feeling this loss deeply. We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated first responders for giving of themselves, especially when they are faced with unimaginable events. Our thoughts and prayers go out to immediate family and friends at this time, and we wish each of them peace and healing. Today, the Ladysmith & District Credit Union has lowered their flags to half-mast in recognition of family and friends affected, and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts.
