Senior animals often have a harder time adjusting to shelter life or new foster homes. Many of them have had one owner and one home since they were puppies or k...ittens. Shelter life, with all the different smells, sounds and activity can be a bit much for our sweet senior population. When you bring home a senior animal, you know exactly WHO you’re bringing home. No tricks, no surprises. You’ll know right away if Pablo is a Game of Thrones or Greys Anatomy fan. Whether they are into snuggles or people watching, seniors have their personalities out on display! Additionally, because most older guys and gals have been living in homes for most of their lives, they are usually well versed in matters of sit, stay, and other basic commands. They are also likely housetrained. Here are some sweet seniors in our care who are looking for their new forever homes. Start the adoption process today to take one home! https://torontohumanesociety.com/adopt-a-pet

Tractive has recently launched a referral program which offers a 15% discount to the buyer, and a one month free subscription extension to the person referring! Fetch + Releash uses 15 trackers with our high-risk fosters, each of which come with a costly subscription. Using our referral code will help keep the rescue's fosters safe, while also lightening the rescue's financial burden. Please consider a GPS for your pooch, and using our referral code below to help keep our fosters safe!

Did you know: in some parts of the North, you can drive for hours without seeing a house, a gas station or even another vehicle? The average cost of a case of ...water in a remote fly-in community in the North is $70, while the average cost of a small bag of dog food in a remote fly-in community in the North is $90. Woah!! Our Northern dog program is aimed at bringing awareness, attention and action to dog overpopulation. In addition to supplying much-needed resources, such as food and mobile wellness services, the Animal North Network transports animals in need of homes to communities where there is a greater demand for adoptable animals.

UPDATE - She has gone to a foster to adopt home until she can be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. This beautiful girl was found alone on the trails near D...on Mills & Eglinton on Sunday afternoon. No collar, no leash, no microchip and no tattoo. It was assumed an owner would come forward quickly, but that has not happened. We are now expanding the search to the GTA. She is not available for adoption. If anyone sees a post anywhere for a lost Golden Retriever, or knows anything about a lost Golden please contact Underdog Railroad Canada on facebook. See more

Sick of hearing celebrities tell us we are all in this together from their multimillion-dollar homes? Tired of burning through Netflix content and feeling pre...ssured to take up a new skill or hobby while staying at home? We have just the thing to not only clear your mind, but actually make a difference. One word: sewing. That’s right. Sewing. We have been donating what we have left of our PPE (personal protective equipment) to frontline healthcare professionals. To continue doing that, we need you. We are calling on anyone who can to sew face masks for us to use at our facility. With new masks coming in, we can continue to donate our own materials to those who need it most. The needle comes full circle! Looking for inspiration? You can find detailed instructions, with pictures, on the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine website here https://bit.ly/39HYwCu Once you have mastered your sewing skills and would like to drop off your newly sewn masks, please leave them in a bag outside our front doors. Someone will then collect these bags and ensure they are washed and disinfected before they are used. Thank you all in advance! Let’s see how many masks we can make!

Are any of you in self-isolation, wondering if it's "safe" or appropriate to walk your dog around the block? The rules may seem confusing but we found this: https://www.canada.ca//coronavirus-disease-covid-19-how-to... Walking the dog while keeping at least 2 metres between yourself and others should be fine.
