Look at some of the ornaments created on December 15th! Participants were encouraged to register and come into the upper hall and create the Christmas craft. Beautiful ornaments were made! This was all done in a welcoming and safe environment with physical distancing, wearing masks and sanitizing. We want to wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas.

The results were stunning! This was all done in a welcoming and safe environment with physical distancing, wearing masks and sanitizing. Can hardly wait to see next week's craft.

It was a winter wonderland this morning at Food Bank. As the snow fell softly, our dear volunteer took protection under her umbrella so she could stay dry and sign in our guests.

Today was our busiest day this year! 82 households received food from the food bank today. Lots of food. Many bags were prepared yesterday! More bags were filled this morning with frozen products, milk, eggs, breads and pastries. It was also the day that recipients were given a box/bag containing laundry detergent, dish soap, rolls of toilet paper, kleenex, toothpaste, shampoo and bars of soap. Beautiful handknit mittens to keep hands warm. Tables set up for guests ...to select some extra food items. And gift cards too! See more

We want to thank the Lakefield Community Garden for the abundance of fresh produce they have donated weekly to our Food Bank. It is much appreciated. The gardeners even provided recipes for using the green tomatoes delivered this week. This is the last week to receive the fresh produce since the 2020 garden season has just ended. We look forward to the 2021 garden season!

WOW! Lots of fresh produce was available at Food Bank. We received a large shipment from Kawartha Food Share. Once again, the Community Garden provided a good selection of vegetables. And some local gardeners brought yummy vegetables to share. On Monday, volunteers pre-bagged fresh fruits and vegetables to give a bag to each of our guests. The photos show the extra produce that recipients could select to take home with them. We are very blessed to live in such a caring community!

It was a busy morning at Food Bank. We had 56 households that received food! Despite COVID-19, the volunteers at the Food Bank are delighted to be able to continue to serve those in need. In order for everyone to remain safe changes have been made in the way items are distributed. When recipients arrive, they register with one of our volunteers. When it is their turn to receive food, they proceed to stand on a STOP line that is drawn on the sidewalk. Volunteers place the p...re-packaged food (canned goods, fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen food items, bread products, sweet treats, milk and eggs) on a table set up on the walkway. When all the food is assembled on the table, the volunteers move away from the table and the recipient is invited to collect their food. There is also a table available for the recipients to choose items that are appropriate for their family. All of this is done in a safe and caring manner. We aim to maintain a warm and welcoming atmosphere. See more

The food bank volunteers want to thank the community for their ongoing support. The challenges that the food bank is facing because of COVID-19 has put increased stress on the volunteers. The food bank has put changes in place and these changes are constantly being updated. To provide an example of a change initiated because of COVID-19, for the past 3 months our recipients received a monthly gift card to Foodland in addition to the regular supplies. This is all thanks to our wonderful donors in the community. Food bank usage does allow people to stretch their food budget dollars a bit and provides healthy choices for them. We are entirely dependent upon donations in order to continue providing food on a regular basis to our clients in this community. Thank you to those who support our food bank!
