This week, the province announced that private parks and campgrounds could open to enable preparation for the season and to allow access for trailers and recreational vehicles whose owners have full season contract. This is encouraging but it is still not the green light for camping to begin. KCCA staff have begun our opening preparations. KCCA will need time to bring campground drinking water systems back up to provincial standards, hire and train seasonal staff. Seasonal campers can expect more information next week when we have answers to all of your questions. Please be patient. We are as excited as you are, and we're working hard to get you safely camping as soon as possible.

Due to the provincial extension of Ontario’s state of emergency KCCA has made the decision to delay the opening of its campgrounds, including both Dalewood and Lake Whittaker Conservation Areas. At this time, the earliest the campgrounds may open will be June 1, 2020. The official opening date will be re-evaluated after May 12, 2020 and may be subject to further delays. If you booked on-line you will see a full and complete refund to the credit card used to make the reservation. If you do not see a refund to your credit card by April 30 please call 519-631-1270. A KCCA staff person will be contacting all seasonal campers shortly to answer any questions that you may have. We appreciate your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times. https://bit.ly/33Y8Dl7

On June 8 the province announced that campgrounds and pools could open as early as June 12, as part of Stage 2 of the province’s Re-Opening Plan. This is great ...news, and the desire for our campers to access their favourite sites is not lost on our staff. However, KCCA wants to ensure that we are following guidelines recommended by local health authorities and the province before opening our campgrounds to overnight transient camping, and day-use facilities at Lake Whittaker Conservation Area and Dalewood Conservation Area. KCCA understands that Provincial Parks are gradually opening for overnight camping beginning the week of June 22 and KCCA is working towards matching that date. However, a final decision on when overnight transient camping will begin will be made following the Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday June 17, 2020. Campers with an existing reservation between June 19 and June 25 will be contacted directly with more information. Thank you for your continued patience at this time.

Update on KCCA Properties & COVID-19 In light of the rapidly changing conditions with COVID-19, Kettle Creek Conservation Authority (KCCA) may delay the opening of our outdoor facilities, including our two campgrounds Lake Whittaker Conservation Area and Dalewood Conservation Area. We are working to determine an exact opening date. For more information, please see our update: https://bit.ly/33Y8Dl7... #StOnt

Lake Whittaker Conservation Area 07.12.2020

Kettle Creek Conservation Authority will be allowing existing seasonal campers to access Dalewood and Lake Whittaker Campgrounds beginning on June 1, 2020 to site their trailers and begin to prepare for the season. Until further notice access will be limited to the ability to bring in and site trailers overnight camping will commence once KCCA can meet all of the provincial guidelines for safe camping during COVID-19 and the province has lifted the restrictions on overnight... camping. Seasonal Campers will receive an email explaining the process and updated rules and regulations. New applications for seasonal sites are not being accepted. Applications previously submitted by the March 15 deadline are being held and will be evaluated based on available sites in 2020. Due to COVID-19 the capacity of the campground for 2020 is limited. New Seasonal Applicants can expect a personal call after June 1 identifying whether a site is available for the 2020 season. At this time, campgrounds will remain closed to day-use and overnight camping. It is still uncertain when KCCA will be able to open to offer nightly camping this season or whether we will be able to accommodate overnight camping within the provincial guidelines. Campers who have made overnight reservations will be receiving cancellation notices and full refunds will be issued automatically. Overnight bookings will be cancelled on a rolling two-week schedule as we continue to evaluate the season. This means that campers with bookings scheduled for later in the season are not being cancelled at this time and campers will be contacted directly as the situation progresses. Pavilion rentals at all KCCA facilities are being cancelled. Bookings will be contacted directly and offered a full refund or the opportunity to refer the booking to 2021 Please be kind to one another and our staff. We are all doing the best we can under extraordinary circumstances. Stay safe and continue to recreate responsibly. https://www.kettlecreekconservation.on.ca/5903-2/
