We remember with love Marilyn, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. Marilyn, first and foremost our friend, who led us in Worship and Reflection for many years as a member of our Spirituality Commission at L'Arche London, will be deeply missed. Today, Marilyn's family is gathering at Westview Chapel, for a private service together. There will be a service at Marilyn's home Church, a date to be announced, when Marilyn's community is able to gather. Battle of the Fans is an online video Lip Sync competition and fundraiser created by L’Arche Canada that will happen between November 24 and December 22 to coincide with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and Giving Tuesday. Our community will be entering into friendly competition with other L’Arche communities in a single elimination tournament. Total funds will be divided among all participating communities with 50% going to each community, 25% to L’Arche... Canada, and 25% to solidarity to support L’Arche communities in the global south. We are excited to invite you to join us in this musical competition with a donation to the mission of L'Arche https://www.canadahelps.org//l/captain/battle-of-the-fans/( and sharing the videos online with your network. Every dollar you donate counts towards reaching our goal of becoming the finalist for this friendly competition, and every Share and Like on Facebook gets us even more points! This Saturday, October 17 the Community Painting Project takes place onsite at the Downtown Richmond Underpass. Volunteers are welcome. L’Arche London is a Community Partner in the Richmond Underpass Community Arts Project. Seven members of our Community - Kavya, Peter, Nicole, Janet, Melissa, Jenn, and Toinette engaged this project throughout the Summer until today. They created thought provoking and beautiful works of art based upon a blend of personal stories and shared experiences. They have been working with over 13 other Community Organizations in partnership, to revitalize the Richmond Street downtow...n underpass for the whole London community. This Community Arts initiative was sponsored by a City of London Neighborhood Decision Making Grant. Over the next week and a half - we'll be featuring some of the work created, which will contribute to the Community Arts Project. Through sharing the beautiful art created here at L'Arche - we'll build anticipation for the unveiling of the collaborative project on October 24 downtown. Today we feature some of the collaborative works of Peter and Kavya - partners in this process of creativity and expression. See more
