I am so tired of being told I’m not essential, and being told when I can and can’t make a living. I am essential. My mortgages are essential. My bills are essential. My mental health is essential. Putting food on the table is essential. Providing is essential. Living is essential. The only people who support the idea that you and I are not essential are the ones who haven’t missed a pay check. The ones who have dual income, the ones who don’t have kids to feed. Everyone should be kind and check yourself before you make those kinds of comments to people when, you have no idea what it’s like because you still get paid every week and haven’t missed a beat. Why do we all work if it isn’t absolutely essential? Be kind out there

CAIT & CYNI am so happy I get to call these two my friends. Caitlin and I went to college together 15 years ago. We lost touch after that and then she was re-introduced into my life when she started working with my best friend. A short time later she met beautiful Cynthia, and they are literally two of my favourite people ever, and they are always down to get creative. I really loved teaching this weekend.I loved helping people learn and grow. I loved showing students some creative techniques where I literally watched a lightbulb go off in their head. I loved being there for the students and being present with them. I loved bringing 100% of my energy and passion, and my excitement for them. I loved how each of them came to me at some point and said WOW! Thank you for showing us that or Thank you so much for bringing this energy Lauren-... we can tell how much you love what you do. That’s just how I am when it comes to photography. My passion for it shines right through me because I love it so much and to this day, it still EXCITES ME! Most of the time I let the students have the forefront of shooting and if you swipe you can see me shooting through them. What venue did you get married at? I always have couples asking me for venue ideas, so I have a list going I want to add too! Amy and Chris are getting married this summer at @hollandmarshwineries which is one of my favourite venues!

I love gentle little moments like this. Yesterday a potential brides asked me what my style was. Are you more posed or candid photographer? The truth is. I 100% like to get both. The more posed classic shots, for me, are the safe but BEAUTIFUL shots. Once we get that we can move onto the fun candid stuff where I give my clients some prompts to get that natural emotion out of them. You can’t go wrong with a little posed and a little candid all in one

Lucy & Tyler's engagement session, was an absolute dream to shoot. So much fun, and they were down for whatever. Lucy reached out to me and told me she wanted a winter wonderland scene and that is exactly what we got. These two got engaged at Springwater Park, so we decided it was also the perfect place their session. Congarts to these two love birds.

I love this set of wedding images so much. We got to be creative, care free and totally had fun with them. They are one of the sweetest, kindest, most beautiful couples I have met. G & J had a small, intimate backyard wedding that was absolutely stunning. One of my favourite images is of John's 93 year old grandma watching the ceremony through the glass. So special. Congratulations to these two love birds, and thank you once again, for having us.

Allison & Dennis. The engagement session was so fun. we hit up a few different spots to bring this together and it turned out absolutely amazing. These two work so well in front of the camera, you can just feel their love pouring out. We are SO EXCITED and can not wait to shoot their wedding in 2021.

HOW. STUNNING. IS. THIS. MATERNITY. SESSION? Karleen, Mario and Rocco (who Is the sweetest by the way) are welcoming baby brother very soon, and of course, we needed to document that. I am so glad they choose Mint Room Studios to rock this session because they look absolutely amazing In front of this backdrop. Can't wait for baby to come!

THIS. ENGAGEMENT. SESSION. We sought after a new location to document Gladz's & Jon's engagement and we ended up deciding on Scarborough Bluffs. I never want to get stuck shooting in the same locations time and time again, and am always looking for new and unique places. The Bluff's did not disappoint and was the perfect spot for these two love birds. Gladz & Jon are two of the sweetest and kindest people and are absolutely perfect for each other.

SURPRISE ENGAGEMENT Caitlin Is a long time friend of mine. Her beautiful partner Cynthia contacted me recently to do a couples shoot, and of course I agreed. Once Caitlin found out she booked me, she knew It would be the perfect time to propose to the love of her life. Caitlin and I, along with our other best friend Candice, did some planning to make this happen and It was absolutely perfect. Swipe through to see how it all played out. I am going to call this weekend exactly what it was. A complete Sh!t show, in the best way possible. We started the weekend with a Friday morning session up north. Friday afternoon we headed to Scarborough for an engagement session and then bridal portraits. After that we headed back up the 400 for an 8am session on Saturday morning. After that 8am’er, back down the 400 we went to @mintroomstudios for a maternity session. When that was finished, we headed back up north for... 7 more family session. And after that? We headed even more north for a couples session turned SURPRISE ENGAGEMENT. We finished that at sunset Saturday evening and went to bed nice and early so that we could get to Scarborough to shoot our stunning wedding. If you think your photographer doesn’t work hard, you’re so wrong!!! Needless to say, it was absolutely bonkers. Tom & Lynda had the most PERFECT day saying I do at the STUNNING Alton Mills Art Centre. These two postponed their wedding from June to October. They decided to ahead with their wedding, with only their closest family and friends. We had SO MUCH fun laughing and shooting with these two. Congratulations Tom & Lynda.

Ryan and Whitney said "we do" at the absolutely stunning Adamo Winery (one of my favs) in Hockley Valley over the long weekend. They had the perfect weather with the most beautiful sunset, and their closest friends and family near by to celebrate with. Congratulations R & W.

I am taking a little bit of time on this holiday to catch up, so I am editing one of my favourite little families out there! One of the easiest families out there to shoot. I am grateful for all of my wonderful clients who turn into friends.

I love birth, I want to shoot ALL the births. Lydia asked me to do this for her months back and I didn't hesitate to say YES! On October 1st she called me at one in the morning and told me she was having some contractions and thought things were going to happen fast. I packed up my bag and met her at her parents house where she was planning a home birth. I arrived at about 2:00am but things were still moving slowly. We all had a little lay down to rest, and around 7am Lydia's... water broke, and thats when things went quickly. She laboured in the bath for a while, before moving to the bathroom floor and delivering her baby Eleanor on her hands and knees, at 8:40am. It was so intense and so beautiful, we all cried. This is something I will never forget. Birth, birth details and birth photography isn't for everyone, but it's truly the most natural, most beautiful thing in the world and Lydia absolutely rocked her home birth. Congratulations Lydia, Drew and Prim on your beautiful new bundle of joy, and THANK YOU for letting me be a part of it. P.S send all the women who want birth photography my way. See more

Kylie came to me a few months ago saying she wanted to re do her wedding photos 5 years later. I can't tell you how many people come to me saying this. The reasons are usually that a) they didn't think photography was important at the time, b) they got a budget photographer and totally regretted it (and got what they paid for), or c) someone convinced them they didn't need a photographer period. Kylie, Peter and I set on on their wedding anniversary to get them some photo's they will LOVE, and I know we did just that, because these are simply beautiful. Get yourself a good photographer on your wedding day, it's one of the biggest days of your life, and you owe it to yourselves.

Just finishing up the last of my apple orchard sessions, and last but definitely not least, we have Cat and her beautiful family!! I absolutely love their clothing / colour choices, they always knock it out of the park!

Ladies and gentlemen, it is October and the busiest month of the year for photographers! We have THIRTY-FOUR sessions booked for October, so that basically means we are taking all November off to edit We love the hustle and bustle, but are seriously looking forward to when things calm down a bit in November.
