Polar Pursuit is a virtual interactive game where participants will compete against others to complete various missions, challenges and scavenger hunts. The best part is that anyone in Canada can participate from their home! You can complete the missions alone or as a small team. Once the game has ended, whichever team or individual has earned the most points by completing the game's missions wins (amazing prizes are up for grabs)! There will also be some door priz...es for the non-highest score as well. Registration is just $20 per team and all funds raised will go to support the work of Dyslexia Canada's mission to ensure that every child in Canada with dyslexia has access to a fair and equitable education. You can learn more and register here: https://www.dyslexiacanada.org//polar-pursuit-virtual-scav

Without our incredible community volunteers, we would not be able to provide this service to the families we serve, so we are very thankful In addition, we would like to send out a GREAT BIG congratulations to the students in our program for all of their hard word and academic accomplish...ments. We are so proud of you all! See you in February for our next tutoring session!

LDAO is presenting an online workshop for parents and caregivers trying to navigate the school system. The course is called Partnering with Schools for Student Success, and promotes a collaborative approach to advocacy, based on knowledge and understanding on both sides. Explore perspectives of parents and schools, promote an understanding of the needs of students and of special education and behaviour management processes in schools, and teach strategies for successful ne...gotiation. Scenarios will be used to help illustrate the ideas presented. Good morning Over the past couple of months, we have been very fortunate to have two volunteers help us with tutoring. These two have been generous with their time, caring to the children in the program, and dedicated to our organization. To Allie and Cindy, we extend an enormous THANK YOU to you both, from all of us here at LDACK as well as the families in our programs. Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead

Today we said goodbye to Emilie Paul, who completed her last day working on our team here at the Learning Disabilities Association of C-K. While we are sad to have her leave the team, we’re thrilled to see her off on her new adventure as she opens her own practice, Interconnection Equine Assisted Therapy, where she’ll be offering Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) and animal assisted talk therapy. Emilie is a Canadian Certified Counsellor from Chatham-Kent, recently graduating from Yorkville University with a masters degree in Counseling Psychology. Her passion for helping others is abundant and made visible by her time spent helping children achieve their academic goals in our program and now to help others find peace within themselves in her own practice. Best of luck in your newest adventure, Emilie!
