A challenge of my morals. As I sat in line today I pondered the internal debate I have every time I head towards the check out tills. Self checkout or cashier? I just couldn't decide what would be the better choice. On one hand, the self checkout is quicker. On the other hand, choosing the check out till pays a real person to sustain themselves and possibly others they care for. I believe people should have jobs; machines shouldn't be taking income away from workers.... What happens if we automate everyone's jobs? Who is going to work? How are we going to make money that way? Every time I go through self checkout I feel guilty. I feel like I didn't do my part to help support my fellow citizens. It's daunting to think how many people just mindlessly roll through self checkout and don't stop to think of the impact that their decisions have on the world. Of course I do get it. I know we're all busy and we don't always have the time. But, I believe we should all have the time to keep food in people's families. Have you ever thought about this ? Ever feel the guilt?
