When I was young, I was surrounded by strong independent women who knew who they were and what they wanted. They never backed down to a challenge and could stand on their own two feet regardless of the obstacles thrown at them. It’s a bit easier now for women to make their mark on society, even though sometimes it’s still a bit challenging. Today, I’m proud to be surrounded by strong and determined women at home, work and in the community. It’s unfortunate that we cannot gather this year and celebrate International Women’s Day, but I believe we should celebrate women everyday and thank them for their contributions. (Picture taken at last year’s City of Vaughan IWD event). #choosetochallenge
The flags at City of Vaughan facilities will be lowered to half-mast in memory of Daina Favia, who worked at the City for 22 years. She was a dedicated professional who was well-respected by her coworkers and the citizens she proudly served.
Our road crews are out brining, and no, we don’t mean pickles. Brine is a liquid with a low freezing point that is sprayed onto the road to prevent snow and ice from sticking to the road surface. For updates, visit vaughan.ca/snow.

What can you say about a woman who gave so much to the City she loved. Mary Reali retired today after thirty five years of dedicated service to the City of Vaughan as Deputy City Manager of Community Services and most recently as Acting City Manager. Tonight is the night to watch America’s Got Talent @agt 8pm - CityTV and watch our little Canadian powerhouse Roberta Battaglia bring down the house! I first met Roberta 18 months ago when this picture was taken and Roberta was only 9. She blew the roof off the venue that night with her strong, powerful and mature voice. She captured my heart that night along with everyone in the room. Wishing you all the best tonight as you proceed to the semi finals, but win or lose you are already a champion in my heart and the hearts of all Canadians cheering you on. #lindajackson #robertabattaglia #americasgottalent
