Our trail markers are returning soon! Some particularly mischievous trail users made a point of loosening or removing them over the summer. We're trying a more heavily anchored approach. Note that we're also making the switch to our winter trail guide brochures. It will take you on a slightly different route while the markers are buried under snow. Happy hiking, and remember to follow public health orders while on the trails.
Are you a prairie manager, a student studying prairie health, or someone working to restore a large area of habitat? The 2021 Native Prairie Restoration/Reclamation Workshop (online) might be for you. Follow the link for early-bird registration details! https://www.pcap-sk.org/upcoming-events/nprrw2021
What’s it like to be inside a bunch of little bluestem grass? Pretty cozy! Prairie habitat offers much needed shelter for winter wildlife as temperatures drop. This extends to our native flower beds - we leave them intact until they start to green up again in spring.
We're always excited when we learn of bison being returned to the prairies. https://www.nationalparkstraveler.org//national-park-bison
Due to the Code Red pandemic response for the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region, our interpretive centre is currently closed. Our self-guided trails are available - groups must be smaller than five people. Please practice physical distancing at all times.
What a beautiful view this morning! Our work doesn't end with the snowfall. We spent the day outdoors following up with some of our aspen management activities.
