Manu Dinelle came as a visitor and fell in love. Here are some of her fabulous photos of a visit to the sanctuary. Another beautiful example of how sweet the llamas and alpacas are with children Thank you Manu!
We have had a busy long weekend of visitors so far! We would love to see your photos in the comments below (from any visit, not just this weekend). Here are some of mine from my visit today - Marissa
Some wonderful photos shared with permission from Terriās visit last week. Lynne feel free to add to my post the names of these characters as I am still learning who is who! -Marissa
This is Tantoo, always first in the queue for food and loves carrots! This was Tantoo giving his best smile for more treats. If you come visit us bring carrots and maybe you will get a fancy smile too.
We are excited that Virginia Hall (Ginny) local artist and author, is bringng her children's books. Ginny has made very generous donations to The Sanctuary and we are delighted to be able to offer her books to Visitors to The Llama Sanctuary. Her latest publication 'Seasons in the Life of a Llama Meadow' features Amigo, Ginny's longtime companion, recently retired to The Sanctuary for health reasons. Come and meet Amigo, and meet Ginny through her wonderful books and the a...rtwork on every page. #llamasofinstagram #llamarescue #chasebc #kamloops #alpacasofinstagram #alpaca #alpacalove #fiberart #fiberartist #llama #alpacaknit #alpacarescue #llamasafari #guidedtours #alpacatours #llamatours #fiberstore #yarntourism #fiberart #fiberartist #fiberfun #experiencechase #llamaevents #llamabirthday #localanimalshelter #localanimalrescue #ShopLocal #BCSmallBusiness #ShopSmall #BCBusiness
Lynne wanted me to introduce myself on the page. My name is Marissa and I recently learned about the sanctuary and visited for the first time. I loved it so much I wanted to help get the word out about this wonderful place! I had never heard of Llamas and Alpacas described as peaceful before visiting, but it is a perfect way to describe the atmosphere at the sanctuary. All the animals have their own quirks and personalities and they are so friendly and loving. Lynne and Davi...d are also some of the sweetest people I have met and give everything they have to take care of currently close to 40 Llamas and Alpacas! With me is Paul (white) and Fada. Fada loves his velvety cheeks stroked and gets up close and personal. Llamas remember people by smelling their breath so he was checking me out to see if we know each other! Paul loves long hair and beards and Fada appears to be an expert at selfies.

One of the beautiful winter moments at The Llama Sanctuary #llamasanctuary #llamalover
Tania looking absolutely marvellous and doing the job that she loves. A real success story - thank you Joanna! We love all your posts but this one really steals our hearts :-) xx
Once again, we must say goodbye to another resident of The Llama Sanctuary. At 24, Panda was an elderly lady in alpaca years and she goes off to the Eternal pastures of Shamballa, joining two of her long-time companions, Praline and Abi. And once again, we send our love and gratitude to Halo Pet Cremation for the assistance and compassion! #llamasanctuary #llamalover
URGENT Alfie in Saskatchewan needs a caring home, without livestock. See previous post for more photos. He is a delightfully curious, handsome youngster, but his experience has made him nervous. We have a home for him in British Columbia, but need transport, so please advise of anyone who can assist with a home nearby or transport to The Llama Sanctuary in British Columbia.
Gemmy, one of the bright lights of The Llama Sanctuary had an eye surgically removed last week. This four year old alpaca was born blind and has developed extraordinary senses to navigate, communicate and find food, but she doesn't know to close her eyelids when burying her head in a bale of hay. She looks terrible at present, but she is recovering well. A great big thumbs up to Matt and all the staff at Shuswap Veterinary Clinic - thank you! Donations are welcomed to help with the cost of this surgery. #llamasanctuary #llamalover
Most Visitors to The Sanctuary will have been greeted by our Beloved Gemmy who was born blind. Our Little Gem underwent major surgery yesterday and needs your help. Please donate to ensure her ongoing treatment and recovery. Bless you all xx
Alfie - a young (2-3 yrs old) very handsome male llama is in need of a special home. He is extremely nervous of people and cannot be with other livestock at this time.. He is located in Saskatchewan. Given the right environment, he will make a wonderful friend and being a fiber llama, he will require careful shearing every other year. Message us for more details if you are interested in helping in any way.
Here's another way to help support The Llama Sanctuary: Buy two beautiful llama decorated mugs for $25 (CDN) and that will buy a small bale of hay for the llamas. Shipping for two of these 11oz, aesthetically designed mugs is $17.80 anywhere in North America or come and visit The Sanctuary and pick some up from The Great Little Llama Shop! Princess Meadow was attacked and severly wounded by a bear earlier this month. She was surrendered to The Llama Sanctuary for intensive care and her story has caught the attention of the entire region, even CBC Radio. She is making a good recovery, but will remain at The Llama sanctuary for the foreseeable future. To make a donation for har care and the care of the other 40 llamas and alpacas at The Sanctuary go to https://llamasanctuary.com #llamasanctuary #llamarescue
This group of llamas we call 'The Cheekies' arrived at The Llama Sanctuary earlier this year. They were afraid of large spaces and have slowly learned to enjoy exploring the forest. However, Thoreau has a hard time keeping track of his 3 girls and often runs back to the barn crying out for his lost herd! #llamasanctuary #llamalover
