Today is our annual Mushroom Foray with @blueelephantinc Exec. Chef Heather Pond and Naturalist Robin Tapley. This is the 12th year in a row we have hosted this 'Ontario Signature Experience' The day begins with a guided foray through the Carolinian, led by guide Robin. Robin will identify mushroom varieties that grow in the forest as you trek along the trails. After the foray, we meet Heather back at the Marshview restaurant for a 4 course, mushroom inspired meal, paired w...ith @burningkilnwine. TRAIL UPDATE: a big thank you goes out to the Turkey Point Mountain Bike Club for clearing up the trails after last week's storm. Over 500 trees went down, and the club has worked tirelessly to make our trails safe again. Happy riding everybody!! Here's another shot of the storm's destruction. Unfortunately, our beloved 'grandma basswood' tree did not survive. Since the zip-line course opened in 2009, we used grandma's hanging limb to explain how trees twist & turn to fight for sunlight. This beautiful basswood fought for 60 years to find just the right amount of sunlight to grow & pr...osper in the Carolinian. She's always been there for a great photo opp, or an awesome hug.
