We're happy to announce that LoveisLoveisLove is launching a new scholarship, "Queering STEM". The scholarship is earmarked for Ontario students entering an undergraduate STEM program (science, tech, engineering, math) in 2020. There are two scholarships of $2,000 available. The scholarship addresses professional discrepancies in LGBTQ+ inclusion. Youth looking to study in STEM may, for example, find fewer role models relative to their peers in arts, culture, and politics. Lo...veisLoveisLove wants to help change that by investing in new leaders. This scholarship couldn't have been made possible without the support of Canadian businesses. Last year, Peace Collective donated the proceeds of their Pride collection to create a seed fund. Earlier this year, Mongrel Media and Meridian Credit Union bolstered that seed fund by collaborating on a charitable film premier at Scotiabank Theatre. Lastly, ScholarTree, an Ontario startup, stepped in to handle the admin work. If you know anyone who would be interested in applying, send them to our website, www.loveisloveislove.org

Each summer the LoveisLoveisLove campaign strives to support LGBTQ+ communities and make Toronto a little more awesome. Last summer we took over City Hall's central atrium with queer-positive imagery, producing one of the largest installations ever seen in that space. This year we're topping that with something new: Toronto's Big Gay Bus. What is the LoveisLoveisLove Big Gay Bus? It's exactly what it sounds like. It's big. It's gay. It's a bus. We've taken a TTC bus and clad ...the outside in LoveisLoveisLove content. The interior of the bus has been filled with educational material aimed at non-LGBTQ+ folks, answering questions that they might otherwise be afraid or embarrassed to ask. The goal of the bus, like the campaign itself, is two-fold. Firstly, we want to help LGBTQ+ people feel recognized and supported. Secondly, we want to make a real effort towards broadening the base of support for LGBTQ+ rights, with a focus on engaging people who aren't already on board with them. We want to help people who are moderately homophobic better understand LGBTQ+ issues and nudge them towards reevaluating their beliefs about our community. Only by engaging a wide cross-section of society, and going beyond our social bubble, can we create truly sustainable change. The bus launches this week and will be operating for 5+ weeks. You'll see it in the downtown core, North York, and a little bit in Scarborough. Happy Pride! :) (Also, don't mind the marks on the interior card photos -- these images are pulled from some technical production files)

Straight allies should never rip off LGBTQ+ artists to sell clothing. Unfortunately, there's a serious possibility that that's what's happening right now. Read more to learn about how corporate support of LGBTQ+ communities can go horribly wrong. #rainbowwashing #tspride
