If you are A parent or guardian with children enrolled in the OCDSB and/or: Identify as a member of the following communities: First Nations, Metis or Inuit; Racialized groups (i.e. African, Black or Caribbean (ABC) ; Chinese, South Asian, Lebanese); Creed-based/religious; Person with Disabilities, 2SLGBTTQ+; or Immigrants and Newcomers to Canada and/or An identified ally to equity seeking groups; and/or, A community organization, agency, group and/or association representative of communities experiencing systemic barriers and marginalization and/or serving these communities through adiversity, equity and inclusion centered mandate . And, you have a strong interest and commitment to student achievement and well-being; knowledge and understanding of the link between equity and inclusive education; an enthusiastic approach and ability to motivate and support others; the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with representatives from various communities who may have diverse opinions and perspectives; the ability to think critically and strategically; the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and respect for others; and, the ability and willingness to attend meetings during the academic year, and to serve a two (2) year term. . The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) is seeking eleven (11) Community Representatives to serve on its Advisory Committee on Equity (ACE) for a two (2) year term ending in November 30, 2020. ACE’s mandate is to advise the Board of Trustees on the review, development, implementation and monitoring of all policies which support the members of the school community and encourage student achievement and well-being. . Thank you to Tracey Ramsey MP Essex for pushing back against Jordan Peterson and his invite to testify at the House of Commons Justice Committee. Peterson is a bigothe doesn't believe in trans people and mocks the concept of Islamophobia. His hurtful and divisive views don't belong anywhere, let alone in a Parliamentary study about online hate.

I’m happy to announce that I‘ll be in Bogotá for the LGBTI Political Leaders of the Americas conference. From Ottawa to Chechnya to Bogota, we must fight for LGBTQ rights across the world. I’m excited to collaborate with queer and trans elected officials to strengthen our communities.

I’m so proud of the students who walked out of class yesterday. If we all stand together, we can stop the PC government from attacking public education.
