The Lyric Theatre Singers dedicate Candlelight Christmas From Our Home to Yours to dear friend and alumna Dolores Barnes. Dolores was a performing member of the Singers in our early days and played a key role in building our audience and developing our ensemble. When the time came for her to pursue other interests, she never completely left us. In fact, for nearly 30 years... Dolores - and her large network of friends! attended our concerts and supported us in our many endeavours. We will miss her straightforward, no-nonsense approach to life but mainly, we will miss her kind, generous nature and will never forget all she has done for us. *** Les Lyric Theatre Singers dédient le spécial Noël aux chandelles De nos maisons à la vôtre à une chère amie et ancienne membre du groupe, Dolores Barnes. Dolores a fait partie des Singers à ses tout débuts, et a joué un rôle charnière dans le développement du public et l’épanouissement de l’ensemble. Même lorsqu’est venu le temps de poursuivre d’autres intérêts, Dolores n’a jamais vraiment quitté le Lyric. En effet, pendant presque 30 ans, Dolores et son large réseau d’amis.es! a assisté aux concerts des Lyric Theatre Singers et nous a soutenu dans nos diverses démarches. Sa vision franche et sans fioriture de la vie va nous manquer, en particulier sa bonté et sa grande générosité. Jamais nous n’oublierons ce qu’elle a fait pour nous.

Bob Bachelor received a message from Emmy winning and Tony nominated star, Liz Callaway! The Lyric Theatre Singers wanted to find a special way to thank him at the end of the season and for pulling off the impossible; keeping the group connected and singing throughout 2020. Needless to say, he was VERY surprised! Thanks to David Chhiv for organizing this on behalf of the group! We wanted to share the special moment with our Facebook friends and extended Lyric family. Do you know Alessandro Mercurio? If you attended last year's Candlelight Christmas concert at Loyola Chapel, you've probably seen him, as he sang his heart out in his very first Lyric Theatre Singers concert. A few words from Bob Bachelor about his recent Jean-Pierre-Guindon prize win: Quelques mots de remerciements de la part de Bob Bachelor au sujet du prix Jean-Pierre-Guindon: I had no idea that this was being planned, so receiving Le prix Jean-Pierre Guindon came as a complete surprise to me and I am very happy and extremely honoured. I see it as an acknowledgement of my work from my peers, so knowing that this is coming from Alliance Chorale du Québec is something that is ...incredibly satisfying. They say it takes a village, and even though this prize is for my work, I can attest to the fact that it’s also about the performers, creators and administrators that I’ve had the pleasure to work with over the years. A great deal of their work is intertwined with mine, so it’s about their collaboration and creativity as well. Striving for excellence and having high standards in both the music and the inter-personal, is very important to me, and I’ve been very fortunate to work with people who are like-minded. Hopefully, that can be seen and heard in the work. Photo: Tam Photography "Je n’avais aucune idée que cela était prévu, alors recevoir le prix Jean-Pierre-Guindon a été une surprise totale pour moi et je suis très heureux et extrêmement honoré. Je vois cela comme une reconnaissance de mon travail de la part de mes pairs, alors savoir que cela vient de l’Alliance Chorale du Québec est quelque chose d’incroyablement satisfaisant. On dit qu’il faut un village, et même si ce prix est pour mon travail, je peux attester du fait que ceci en dit long à propos des interprètes, des créateurs et des administrateurs avec qui j’ai eu le plaisir de travailler au fil des ans. Une grande partie de leur travail est étroitement lié au mien, donc il s’agit de leur collaboration et de leur créativité aussi. Viser l’excellence et avoir des attentes élevées est très important pour moi, et j’ai été très chanceux de travailler avec des gens qui ont une vision similaire à la mienne. Espérons que cela peut être vu et entendu dans le travail que nous continuons de faire ensemble!"

Merci à l’Alliance chorale du Québec de partager la vidéo de notre toute première production virtuelle. Nous avons peine à croire que celle-ci date d’il y a 8 mois. Malgré le temps qui passe, le message de cette chanson reste le même pour nous. Nous espérons qu’il saura égayé votre mercredi.
