Fall is a great time to visit and explore our Adventure Area. These attractions are simple but provide a great way to explore with young children and enjoy time together outdoors in the fresh air. There are 3 main activities...... Adventure Path - A path with a variety of textures that takes approximately 30 minutes to complete with young children. There are some lovely views of the fields from the back section. Tire Mountain - Children enjoy climbing up the tires and sliding down. Cedar Hedge Maze - See if you can find the pirate ship in the middle, and the pirate symbols along the way! *As of August 31st, you can also visit the pigs and sheep in this area. Look for the red roofed barn. Fee: $5 + tax per person, family rate of $20.00 + tax. Ages 2 and under are free. Wrist bands must be purchased in the farm store. And of course there is also the Demonstration Barn area and Main Dairy Barn to explore as well. Until September 30th we will be open 7 days a week 9am to 5pm each day. We also expect to be open in October as well but will post those dates and hours mid to late September. Another one of our popular ice cream flavours... maple sugar!

We posted this photo a little while ago, and wanted to provide a bit more explanation about the green pivot bars. If you look at the photo about half way down you can see how the bars can pivot as the cows push on them to get feed. As the cows push on the bars as they feed, these bars pivot and vary the pressure points, helping to prevent shoulder injuries in the cows.... If the bars did not pivot, the cows could develop bare spots at the focused pressure points, and that also increases the risk of infection at those spots.

For coffee lovers we have our Cappuccino ice cream. Also great for adding to iced coffees...

This is our Lely Juno Feed Pusher at work in the barn. When the cows eat they push their feed away, and throughout the day Juno travels through the main feed aisle and pushes it back in. When you visit the Main Dairy Barn look for the red metal bars embedded in the floor... the Juno uses these to help navigate its route.

Visitors are welcome to visit our Demonstration Barn & Main Dairy Barn for free, but we do appreciate coin / cash contributions to our "Pay What You Can" box at the entrance of the Demonstration Barn or near the Farm Store entrance. If you would like to check out the Adventure Area with the Cedar Hedge Maze, Tire Mountain and Adventure Path, wristbands can be purchased in the Farm Store. $5 + tax per person, family rate of $20.00 + tax. Have you noticed when visiting that the green bars at the feeding area pivot? You can see about half way down the difference. On the left the bars are on an angle, but straighter further down.

Oats and peas harvested and going into the silo this afternoon. A little nerve wracking because they were swathed last week and needed to get them in but weather and combining came together today. This is our blueberry ice cream... We have blueberry -> and lavender as well... available in the Farm Store for cones, or also in 2l take home containers. (While supplies last!)

A recent sunny day munching on some grass...

Well its 730 am Saturday morning. Arwa is doing chores in the barn with a helper. Hayden is out in a field on the home farm discing. Martin is at the field down the road with the custom worker getting ready to plant oats. (Shown here) Later today, it will be combining the oats and peas which was swathed three days ago.

The sheep hanging out this evening...

The cows have access to pasture all day, but on hot sunny days generally prefer the shade and fans in the barn. You can see a couple of the large fans at the upper right of the photo. Then evening, overnight and early morning the pasture is more popular.

I might get sick of the mud after heavy rains and of the heat and humidity that plagues me when out in the hot sun fencing but never of the new calves. Each one is so different and CUTE!
