What this means is, for our AAC users, we (the adults and everyone of whom is in that child’s life - school staff, parents, siblings, therapists, extended family, etc.) N E E D to be using t h e i r system to m o d e l language. We have to talk on it, so they learn how to talk on it. Only with constant, ongoing, modeling input (just as would happen for a typical language learner), will our AAC users learn how to use their systems successfully. Have an AAC user in your ...life?
