The best part, they’re having fun, and don’t even realize how much they’re learning in the meantime!... See more
Language opportunities are everywhere. This article nicely provides some excellent ideas for how to include AAC into ordinary activities and games, at home. The AAC user needs to see you using their system, so they will learn how to use their system. If you require support for your child who uses AAC, please don’t hesitate to contact Woodstock Speech Therapy Services. ... [email protected] Www.woodstockspeechtherapy.ca
What this means is, for our AAC users, we (the adults and everyone of whom is in that child’s life - school staff, parents, siblings, therapists, extended family, etc.) N E E D to be using t h e i r system to m o d e l language. We have to talk on it, so they learn how to talk on it. Only with constant, ongoing, modeling input (just as would happen for a typical language learner), will our AAC users learn how to use their systems successfully. Have an AAC user in your ...life?
