Today is National Pig day! Although we don't treat pigs at our practice we still like to celebrate animals of all shapes and sizes. Today we thought we'd share some fun facts about our farm friends:... 1) Pigs are smarter than dogs, some primates and even young humans. 2) Pigs love frolicking in the mud because they have no sweat glands! 3) Piglets can learn their names at just two to three weeks old. February is #dogtraining education month! Here are a few helpful tips when it comes to training your dog: Tip 1: Consistency is Key! ... Agree on the house rules before your new furry pal comes home. Tip 2: Give Them Their Own Space. Dedicate an area in your home as their sleeping place, such as a crate or bed. Tip 3: Reward Good Behavior! Reward your puppy or dog’s good behavior with positive reinforcement. Use toys, love and lots of praise and don’t forget the treats. Tip 4: Teach Recall The first command you teach your pet should be for them to come when they are called. When they do, get excited and use lots of positive reinforcement. Tip 5: Say 'OUCH!' to Biting and Nipping Instead of scolding your new pet, let out a sharp, loud yelp so they think you're in pain. Most dogs are so surprised that they stop immediately.
