Summary: masks can be helpful. HOWEVER: they can also make you less attentive to the other things that are important. Proper mask usage and the limitations of masks are important things to consider.

A group of Dalhousie medical students are trying to support frontline healthcare workers by collecting any masks, gloves or other PPE you may be willing to donate. Our hospitals do not have enough of this equipment. If you have extra, and do not need the supply, your donation is very much appreciated.... Thank you

There is a lot of information being shared about COVID-19. When things get complex it’s nice to step things back to the basics to get a better understanding about something and fill in some important gaps. This is a great summary and an easy way to tie lots of information together. An amazing amount of effort went into making this 8 minute video.

If I can get a shipment of hand sanitizer for $15/bottle - would that be worth purchasing? *We would sell it at a price only to cover our costs to order it. I can likely get some supply, but the wholesale price is very high. The important thing for me is that people have access to hand sanitizer if they need it. -Brandon

I just wanted to share a quick thank-you to everyone for following and being so understanding of all of the new processes at the pharmacy this past week. The response from our Cape Breton community has been fantastic so far. We have a long road ahead, but it makes it so much easier to look after everyone’s needs when we get this kind of support. Thank you ... - Brandon See more

Please call ahead before visiting the pharmacy. We will remain open to serve the public but will be limiting the amount of patients permitted to enter at one time. Payment over the phone followed by curb-side pickup or no-contact delivery is the preferred method of medication refill. Thank you for staying home & social distancing.

Non-essential calls to 811 make it more difficult for people to reach help when they actually need it. If you develop #COVID19 symptoms, complete the online self-assessment at https://811.novascotia.ca.

A new "30 Days Supply" limit has been implemented by the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists to ensure that we continue to have a stable drug supply throughout COVID-19 precautions. Rest assured that we are still receiving regular shipments of medication. This is a precautionary step to PREVENT drug shortages. Reminder: Please preorder your medication to limit time spent in-pharmacy. (See our other posts for details)... Thank you for your understanding.

We're here for you during COVID-19. Your health and our collective wellbeing is our top priority and we are prepared to serve our community throughout this challenging time. Pharmacies are healthcare facilities servicing some of our most vulnerable populations, and as such we must be vigilant in doing our part to fight viral spread. ... To protect the health our staff and the patients that we serve, we are asking your cooperation in preventing the spread of the virus. WAYS YOU CAN HELP: - Preorder your prescription and over-the-counter products by calling ahead (yes, even OTC products). - Place prescription orders using our mobile app, "Medicine Shoppe Canada" in the App Store (this saves us time so that we can ensure everyone is cared for) - Be mindful not to "stockpile" prescriptions. Public officials are encouraging patients to refill their prescriptions as usual. - If you are sick with a fever, cough, wheezing, shortness of breath, or any other respiratory symptoms, please avoid visits to the pharmacy and consider having a loved one or family member come to the pharmacy on your behalf for the purchase of over-the-counter medicines or prescription pickup. Free delivery on prescriptions is available for the Sydney-area. - Limit time spent waiting in the pharmacy. If you are able to drop-off and pickup at a later time this will help us to support "social distancing" recommendations and maintain a clean environment for patients vulnerable to illness. - If you belong to a high-risk population such as seniors, infants, pregnant women, people with health conditions such as lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, IV drug users, or those who have a weakened immune system like patients undergoing chemotherapy or other drugs suppressing the immune system, etc. consider having a loved one or neighbour pick up and drop off your prescription. Our pharmacy team will do it’s best to ensure that you receive any counselling needed to safely use your prescription over the phone. If you are unable to avoid the pharmacy and you belong to a vulnerable population, please let us know and we will do our best to assist you through prescription delivery. Thank you for your cooperation in this endeavour. Should you have any questions about the above precautions, please feel free to call us. If you are having symptoms or had exposure to someone with COVID-19 call 811 for further direction. Stay safe & look after one-another Much love, Medicine Shoppe Sydney **Please share**

Ask your pharmacist for information on COVID-19. At this time, the risk to Nova Scotians remains low. Proper hygiene & staying home if you are sick are the best things you can do to contain the spread. Current recommendations, updated and alerts are best found at https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/
