I’ve always had a love for animals and I dream to have a dog one day. Unfortunately at this moment since I am not able to have one, I decided to help animals find a home through my partnership with the Mississauga Humane Society , dedicated to reducing homeless animals and finding foster and adoption homes for them. Follow my journey with the @mississaugahumanesociety and lets make a difference in the lives of our furry friends by finding them a roof where they can give and receive love! #mississaugahumanesociety #missteenagecanada #animallover #teenagespokesperson #teenageambassador #empoweredteengirls #beyourownkindofbeautiful #teenswithapurpose

Two photos. One of them has a filter and another one doesn’t. The one where I didn’t use a filter, you can see my flaws. Flaws refers to imperfections but isn’t acne something that is normal? In the second picture, you can see that my flaws are gone, I got a slimmer face, nose contouring, fuller lips and etc. There’s no harm in using filters, but it becomes harmful when you live by filters, and want to become the filters and don’t love your true self. Remember, 98% of social media is curated, to trick your eye to believe that it’s not photoshopped or edited.

A lot of my platform is me telling you to love yourself and to feel beautiful. But sometimes, I think we forgot it’s okay to have off days and not feel beautiful. It’s okay to wake up in the morning look in the mirror, and not particularly enjoy whoever’s staring back at you. Because that’s really not who you are, that’s just the exterior, the thing that covers the inside which help you breathe, think, and love. People can’t see the kindness in the inches of your waist or the...y can’t see the brilliant young mind in the gaps of the thighs. Your real beauty is so much deeper. It’s waiting for you to realize that the people who can see this particular kind of beauty, your beauty, are the only people who truly know you, the only people who really even matter. So know that it’s okay to wake up and look in the mirror and hate whoever you see, it’s okay to feel fat when you’re PMSing and want to grab every single bad food out there, or grab the stretch marks off your legs and wish it wasn’t there. But it’s okay. It’s okay to not feel beautiful on days. Because what drives you to get out of bed is so beautiful and the way you want to help everyone around you is beautiful. That is really true beauty. #mtc2020 #youarebeautiful #thisisme #nomakeup #everyday #beautifulwoman See more

I have skinny privilege. I never really had to think twice about fitting into pants and dresses, but that doesn’t mean I never felt insecure. I learnt growing up to always suck in you stomach and that thick thighs weren’t seen as appealing. I also always watched my weight even though I was average weight for my height. Social media is beyond toxic. Photoshop is encouraged to make yourself not look like yourself. It’s not healthy at all. Join me in the #thisisme. Normal isn’t even seen as normal anymore. It’s so draining to try and met society’s beauty standards because one day this is acceptable, the next day it’s not. It’s not draining to be yourself though, because you are perfect. #mtc2020 #youarebeautiful

MISS TEENAGE CANADA 07.11.2020

This is my official post where I talk a little bit about my platform. It’s how social media can really negatively effect younger girls. I’ve invited some of my friends to talk about their experiences with social media or just in general. Remember that almost everyone edits their pictures to an extent, even I used to do that. But I released Im just feeding into that toxic culture that normalizes editing and photoshop on social media. Those beauty standards are unrealistic, you are in this against yourself. - Joanne

A year ago today, my life changed forever. When I entered Miss Teenage Canada, I told myself that all I wanted to do was have fun and make some incredible memories - did I ever do that! To this day, winning Miss Teenage Canada 2019 still feels like a dream to me, a dream that I don’t want to end. I have had so many opportunities this past year from working along this Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada to giving back to my small community who has had my back through this wh...ole journey. Although the MTC2020 pageant is still up in the air due to Covid-19, I am bitter sweet about the ending of my reign. I will for sure miss having the honour to wear this crown yet I am so excited to see what my future will hold. Thank you to everyone who has supported me this past year, from my parents, my friends and my community, I could not have done any of this without you. Here are just a few of the amazing memories I have from this past year! Thank you, Emma Jeapes Miss Teenage Canada 2019

Hi there, Mahta here. As an Operation Smile Canada student Ambassador I invite you all to watch this video and join the Smiles from Coast to Coast. Note: Operation Smile is a non-profit organization which provides free-of-charge and safe surgery to kids/teens and sometimes adults born with cleft-lip and cleft-palate deformities via a team of medical surgeons, staff and nurses that go to poverty-striken and sometimes remote parts of the world. That is with the help of gene...rous donations and fundraisers. Each surgery costs $240. Today is the longest day of the year and the Longest Day of SMILES! We are thrilled to have some extra special people join the SMILE movement this year! We are so excited to have 12 Mayors across the country rally and join the SMILE movement this year! Hi there, Mahta here. Let me take you all down the memory lane to last year this time. As Canada’s delegate, I got to bring a bit of our country to showcase at the International platform. There, I was crowned as Miss Teen Globe Americas and second to the winner. Still surreal to think about it, and I’m grateful for this opportunity. Hopefully when this pandemic ends soon, more memories like this can be made. #FBF Visit to Ruins of Jesuiticas in Itapua, Paraguay was very memo...rable. This historic sight was even more incredible up close! And all Miss Teen Globe delegates got to wear their national costumes among its ruins! This was July last year. I can’t wait for 2020 Miss Teen Globe event to take place in Mexico to pass on my crown to my successor. Hey there, Mahta here. As a Junior National Team member of Karate Canada, I have been lucky to continue trainings online despite my dojo closure as well as national and international competitions being cancelled. Across all sports, same situation has applied. Today, June 6th marks the National Health and Fitness Day across Canada and I encourage everyone, especially youth to get up and get active. During these unprecedented times, it’s important to stay active for our physic...al and mental wellbeing. It’s also a way to boost our immune system and stay in shape. Be stronger than your excuses. In a world plagued by racism, intolerance and injustice, we should all come together and stand up for eachother’s rights in the name of our shared common humanity. Indifference to pain and suffering can be just as harmful as hatred, if not worse. Black or white, indegenous, hispanic, religious minorities, LGBTQ, people of all walks of life and backgrounds, we are all worthy of respect and dignity. Human beings are members of a whole... In creation of one essence and soul If one member is afflicted with pain Other members uneasy will remain If you have no sympathy for human pain The name of human you cannot retain. - Saadi, 13th Century. - Mahta, Miss Teen Globe Americas 2019

As many of you know, there are many events that are being cancelled due to COVID-19 in the interest of keeping everyone safe. This includes my good friend Ruby's JDRF Ottawa Sunlife Walk to Cure Diabetes. Ruby is a Type 1 Diabetic, and this walk raises funds for research to maybe one day find a cure for this debilitating disease. This year, Ruby has teamed up with her twin brothers to raise funds for Type One Diabetes, with a special twist! Ruby's twin brothers are goin...g to shave their heads for this great cause. In Ruby's own words, "Type 1 Diabetes needs research more than people need hair!" All the details of Ruby's virtual fundraiser are on the page below! MISS TEENAGE CANADA 27.08.2019

Today, April 22nd marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. This modern environmental movement falls on a special time this year, a period of uncertainty in the midst of a global pandemic. Recently, we’ve also witnessed extensive bushfires and rain forest fires in Australia and Amazon which ravaged homes and lives of our valuable wildlife. We’ve been through natural disasters and seen in our lifetime the effect of human activities on global warming. May this be a reminder,... that every day should be Earth Day, and we should care for our planet and all its inhabitants and realize how vulnerable we all are. Mother Earth is the only home we’ve got, so lets nourish it with love and care and together lets strive to get through these dark times. May we come out of this situation stronger than before. - Mahta, Miss Teen Globe Americas

On behalf of my friends, family and I, we extend our most sincere condolences to all those affected by today’s tragedy in Nova Scotia. The 23 victims of this fatal shooting - including RCMP’s hero, Constable Heidi Stevenson who died on duty - will never be forgotten and indeed this day will go down as the worst mass shooting in Canada’s history. #NovaScotiaStrong Please know, our hearts and prayers are with you, the good people of Nova Scotia. In the end, light will always triumph over darkness. - Mahta, Miss Teen Globe Americas
