Wondering what makes a #pharmacogenetic (PGx) test different from other genetic tests? PGx looks at your #genetics to find gene variants which determine your response to medications. This could be side effects or how the medication will actually work for you. With TreatGxplus, your healthcare provider will be able to combine pharmacogenetic information with other health factors to find the medication that is safe and will work for you. Eligible Green Shield Canada (GSC) plan members can get TreatGxplus covered. Learn more at https://www.genxys.com/content/en-gsc-members/

This March, we participated in an insightful virtual series on the pharmacogenetics (PGx) landscape and implementation. The STANDOUT theme is the need for the clinical decision support component of a successful PGx implementation to be interoperable with the electronic health records (EHRs), the claim management systems, and Pharmacy Management Systems (PMS). We've summarized some of the key benefits of interoperability for healthcare systems: - Greater productivity... - Reduced costs - Improved patient care - Better public health data - Fewer errors - Enhanced patient experiences - Safeguarded patient data GenXys’ award winning clinical decision support software is interoperable with leading EMRs, EHRs and PMS. All you need to do is to contact us to learn more about how we can help you implement PGx to improve your patients' health outcomes. https://bit.ly/2Wawrig What are your interoperability challenges?

Craig Beavers recently appeared on our podcast, Precision Insights, to talk about the benefits of pharmacist-led PGx implementation. As co-chair of the clinical pharmacist workgroup of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy - ACCP, he also co-authored a recent paper, Current and Future State of Clinical PharmacistLed Precision Medicine Initiatives. This paper discusses why pharmacists are best positioned to lead pharmacogenetics initiatives and reviews the current state a...nd future of pharmacist-led precision medicine in five different areas: clinical practice, education, research, barriers to precision medicine, and solutions to those barriers. The authors highlight the importance of having PGx information within an EMR which is also equipped with clinical decision support. GenXys makes this a reality. GenXys is the leader in clinical decision support software that enables the seamless inclusion of pharmacogenetics data into personalized prescribing decisions at the point of care. Easy to use, they fit right into the pharmacist's, physician's, or nurse practitioner's existing workflow with or without Best Practice Alerts (BPA’s). Unfortunately a stigma still exists around #mentalhealth issues, which is why patients that are brave enough to seek help should have as simple and effective a journey as possible. However, the possibility of adverse side effects makes starting medications daunting. This is why, with TreatGx, we include dynamic side effect profiles for all #antidepressants that rate the risk of the 10 most common side effects. These include sedation, insomnia, weight gain, lethality in overdose, and more. Eligible Green Shield Canada (GSC) plan members have access to these features when they order TreatGxplus. Today is World Password Day! Make sure to update your 1234password. You may be wondering why GenXys, the leader in pharmacogenetic enabled clinical decision support software, is a fan of World Password Day. Well, it’s because security is fundamental to what we do.... Interoperability with EHRs and LISs means that security-enabled ease-of-use features, like single sign-on for seamless use across a health system, really matter. If your current PGx translation provider is not talking to you about features like this, maybe you should be talking to us. We know that much of the variation in medication response is due to our unique genetic profiles; however, it goes beyond genetics. It's important to consider other variables (other medications, other conditions, age, medical history, kidney & liver function, etc.) as well as #pharmacogenetics to make the most informed decision. TreatGxplus enables prescribers to consider all of these factors alongside pharmacogenetic insights. Now prescribers are more likely to be accurate in... their prescription choice for YOU. To learn more about pharmacogenetics, TreatGxplus, and our partnership with Green Shield Canada (GSC), join our upcoming "Intro to pharmacogenetics and TreatGxplus" webinar on Wednesday, May 12, at 5pm PT (8pm ET). Our PGx deployment expert, Sanda Islik, will guide you through the benefits of pharmacogenetics (PGx), industry trends, and important considerations for successful implementation. This article from EHR Intelligence lays out the reasons why genomic information should live in the EHR. In particular, the author highlights the use of clinical decision support as a key reason why genomic integration is important. We want health care practitioners to be able to use their patients’ pharmacogenetic information effectively using data from within the EHR. This way, patients might have more opportunities to benefit from having done a pharmacogenetic test. As well, clinical decision support software, like our own TreatGx and ReviewGx, are even more powerful with EHR integration. Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/3vJSxZo
