I caught a glimpse of something that mentioned Administrative Professionals’ Day and panicked. I thought oh no, I’ve missed it. A Google search turned up 3 different dates for when we celebrate it in Canada this year. I don’t know which is correct, but I’m going with this Google search that says it’s today! Happy Administrative Professionals’ Day Charity Marlin! You are truly wonderful, smart, kind, caring, efficient and exceptional in every way. It’s quite surprising how much misinformation circulates on social media about Covid-19. Getting vaccinated will not affect your insurance coverage.

Did You Know.....many travel insurance providers are starting to offer coverage for COVID-19? Over the past few weeks, we have had several inquiries from clients regarding purchasing COVID-19 coverage for travel. Despite the fact that there is still a government advisory warning against international travel, many carriers are starting to offer coverage. However, it's important to know that some policies have limits that may be too low, and there could be concerns with ho...spital bed and treatment availability, and the ability to return home. Here is a great article on the topic: https://www.cbc.ca//covid-19-coverage-travel-insurance-air
It seems that most businesses (including ours) sometimes find themselves scrambling to find items to post on social media, because that's what we're "supposed" to do, it's expected of us. I've been giving some thought recently to what sorts of posts would be truly valuable and helpful to people. So, I've decided that when I deal with a case, or come across information that I don't think is widely known, I'll just tell you about it. It may not happen regularly, but if I have... insight that might benefit a few people, I'll post about it. I'll call these posts "Did You Know....." So here we go! Did You Know......if you have a child attending a post secondary institution and they are applying for provincial or federal loans or grants, they have to disclose the amount of money they have in an RESP and it will reduce the funding they're eligible to receive. However, money in a TFSA does not have to be disclosed. It therefore might be worth considering withdrawing the RESP funds and depositing them into the child's or parent's/guardian's TFSA. A couple of important items to consider first though...some RESP withdrawals must be taken into the child's income, so you need to weigh the possible consequences of higher income and additional tax owing. Also, a person doesn't start accumulating TFSA contribution room until the year they turn 18, which is why you may need to utilize contribution room available to the parent(s) or guardian(s). Please hit the "like" button if you found this tip informative and would like to see more financial tips posted. Please feel free to comment or PM us if you liked this, or have any questions, or would like more information on any financial topics. Maybe your question will turn into the next tip we feature in "Did You Know....."!
