Brian's Bower's ALS Ride of Dreams - Goal 3000 Facebook Shares. One share for every person in Canada living with ALS. Dear Friends, My Motivation ... I do not want to die this way. I desperately don't. I was living a fulfilling life with an incredible family, a beautiful daughter and granddaughter, wonderful friends and an amazing wife, My Michelle. 3000 Canadians living with ALS do not want to die this way either, all with similar stories to tell. So... How will I die? I will most likely die of respiratory failure or the inability to breathe. I say most likely to die because, my wife steered my mobility scooter with me on it, down into a water filled deep ditch and my scooter was half emerged in water. So that might happen too! True Story. The inability to breathe will most likely be the way that those living with ALS will die. The process of getting to this inevitable fateful day is just awful to say the least. I cannot walk and I cannot talk and nearly every muscle in my body is failing me. I will soon be taking all nutrition through a feeding tube as my ability to swallow worsens. Nobody should have to live like this! I am determined to make a difference today, through the month of June and beyond so hopefully one day we can witness a world without ALS.
