If this happens, expect a jump in prices, not just food. https://m.facebook.com/story.php
Ginger, avocado and asparagus prices are starting to rise. Many other vegetables will probably rise due to the hurricane fallout in the states.

Severe shortage of head lettuce and green leaf lettuce. New supply should be coming in before the next weekend.

Prices still volatile. American buying Ontario cabbages so it's going up in price. Canadian Dollar has been hovering around 1.40. Expecting new local harvest in April/May. Just hang in there.
We're gonna be continuing to buy from the US until local producers become active again. http://www.thestar.com//01/12/loonie-dips-below-70-cents.h
Everything is in limited supply right now which is causing the volatility in price. American growers are suffering from uncooperative weather. They would have variable amounts of rain, which is then compounded by the cold weather. The Canadian dollar has reached a new low. Any importers that have locked in their prices via currency futures would benefit nicely (ie eggs). ... Local greenhouse production is somewhat affected (ie cucumbers). My guess is they're shipping Canadian produce to the US because of our cheap dollar. As mentioned in the previous post, produce will be expensive this year.

Produce prices should alleviate after Christmas however inventory stock is limited as the year winds down.
Lots of leafy vegetables should decrease in price the coming weeks. US thanksgiving is over but there is light supply out there. Any slight demand can raise prices. Harvest season has also ended.
