Global demand for steel is quickly growing the product is strong, durable, dependable and 100% recyclable. Steel is needed to produce many things we use in our everyday lives including cell phones, bicycles and kitchen appliances. Steel also plays a critical role in green energy production: wind turbines, solar panels, tidal power systems and bio-energy infrastructure all require steel. For over a century Mosquito Creek has felt the effects of deforestation, industrialization and urbanization. Neptune’s support helped the North Shore Streamkeepers complete the Lower Mosquito Creek Salmon Enhancement Project on September 28, 2020. The project has successfully restored 150M of the lower reaches of creek! We will be sharing more information on the project stay tuned!
The area for the North Shore Streamkeepers’ Lower Mosquito Creek Salmon Enhancement Project was chosen because it is a transition zone for both adult and juvenile salmonids. About 60 large coniferous logs were brought in, with approximately 200 large boulders. Excavators were used to lay the logs and place the boulders. Wire rope and epoxy were used to hold the logs in place. Neptune is pleased to have helped fund this project. We think all the hard work paid off how about you?
