A message on competitive basketball in Fredericton Planning for the 2020/21 season under circumstances surrounding COVID-19 restrictions has been challenging. To try and come up with the best possible situation for all youth basketball players in Fredericton, the Fredericton YMCA Capitals and Northside Minor Basketball Association are collaborating to come up with the best possible solution during difficult times. Due to the restrictions on use of gym space in area schools as... dictated by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, we are unable to secure access to gym facilities at this time. Our hope is that space will become available mid-October (after Thanksgiving), at which point we would start our try out process - more to follow as questions around facility access become clearer. For now, all regular September activities (skills and drills, try outs) are on hold. The goal is to provide as complete a program as possible, keeping the safety of our players, coaches and families as the top priority. We appreciate your patience and will update you as new information becomes available. Jason Gillis - Fredericton YMCA Capitals Bev Steeves - Northside Minor Basketball Association

Stay tuned for what this will mean for our NMBA registration, tryouts and fall programs. We are working hard to get our Fredericton players back on the courts.
