The snow is deep on the North Shore mountains already!
NEW BLOG! The latest North Construction blog post focuses on two foreshore projects we’ve recently completed. This kind of work, while risky, is very rewarding since we leave the natural environment better than it was before so that it can thrive.
A highlight from this week: we’re working with @metrovancouverbc to clean up an area on Dorman Point, Bowen Island so it can be turned back into a natural park. Here’s a great shot from one of our crew of the helicopter in action. Check out more on our story today.
At North Construction we pride ourselves on keeping the terrain as undisturbed as possible in order to keep the natural habitat thriving. Read more about our erosion and sediment control work on our latest blog post: https://www.north-construction.com/erosion-and-sediment-co/
A casual October sunrise on site
A few highlights from a recent job. In order to pour concrete to support a retaining wall by the harbour our team had to use a large concrete boom pump to get the concrete over a large mansion. The job required extreme precision and our experienced team pulled it off without a hitch.

We love working in the best place on earth. #beautifulbc #mondaymotivation
This is how we get your power and communication lines from overhead to underground. Read more about our utilities work on our blog.
NEW blog post! Our team has been busy laying the underground utilities for a new community on Cypress. Read more about it at the link in our bio.
Working on a seawall repair in West Van
The first step in a giant shotcrete wall. Our team was able to construct a massive wall against the hillside of Cypress Mountain for the new multi-residential building The Courtenay. For more on this project check out the blog link in our bio.
Turning big rocks into little rocks. We drilled to blast to remove the giant boulders at the site for The Courtenay. For more info on our work with @britishpacificproperties on this project check out our blog (link in bio)
During our excavation for The Courtenay, we came across a few enormous boulders in the glacial till which we decided to appropriately name The Titanic, School Bus, and Dinosaur @ West Vancouver, British Columbia
One of the first steps to get down to grade for the construction of The Courtenay was to complete a deep excavation on the rugged terrain where the back of the building would snugly sit against the land. Our team worked carefully to ensure minimal disruption to the surrounding subdivisions, roads and environmentally-sensitive areas. Read more about this project on our blog: https://bit.ly/34tl1fp
The North Construction Blog is now live! Every month we will be highlighting one of our projects on our new blog. Check out our first post on the excavation work we recently completed for The Courtenay on Cypress: https://bit.ly/34tl1fp The North Construction crew lay the groundwork for the multi-residential apartment tower on the side of Cypress Mountain. Here are a few highlights of the excavation we did to cut a clean multi-shelf design into the steep terrain for the building’s foundation. We’ll be sharing more of our favourite photos of the project this week.
The repurposed wood removed from this site went to make the spectacular trestle bridge you see in the background.
Our state of the art equipment allows us to be extremely precise in our excavating - down to the centimetre! This accuracy keeps the surrounding terrain as undisturbed as possible while keeping workers safe on site.
We pride ourselves on being innovators in our industry and working with other groundbreaking companies like @finningca. Check out our story to see how we’re working with Finning Canada and their state-of-the-art Next Generation CAT Excavators. -- : @fernando_blendl_photography

Can't believe it's been ten years since we set up the Olympic rings at Cypress and helped build some of the iconic runs of the 2010 Olympic Games, the venue where @alexbilodeau won Canada's first ever gold medal on home soil Amazing memories of helping build one of our city's most memorable events. @ Cypress Mountain
A few shots from our team’s recent avalanche skills training at @mtseymour. Safety is one of our top priorities and we ensure our crew is equipped with the skills they need to stay safe in all terrain. @ Mount Seymour Provincial Park
New year. New Challenges. New Goals. We’re looking forward to continuing to be industry leaders with groundbreaking technological advances. #TBT - A look at the reconstruction of the Cypress Mountain reservoir earlier this year. This reservoir supplies the ski hill’s snow guns for early season snow We used a drone survey by Spitfire Drone Survey to 3D-model the original reservoir and redesign it to allow for maximum water volume capacity. By re-scanning the site mid-construction (pictured here) we were able compare the progress drone survey directly with the original design. @ North Vancouver, British Columbia

This is a good example of some of our specialty work. In this case we reconfigured the intake structure on this dam to use the water to generate power more efficiently. #TBT
As a result of the box culvert and wall we built, we can keep this creek safe and clean while we continue our site work.
Setting up a tower crane to start construction on The Courtenay building in British Properties. - It took a crane to build a crane to build a crane: the blue crane was there to build the purple crane that then built the white crane. - At 300’ ft tall with ~270’ ft reach, the final white crane is tall enough to clear the tree tops and reach all parts of the building as it’s constructed.
