#NYL12DaysOfGratitude wants to send a huge thank you to the Government of Canada. With the support of several departments, we were able to bring youth aboard a research vessel on Great Slave Lake and offer more opportunities to youth from across the NWT.
Youth aged 12-14 portaged into Hidden Lake for a weeklong adventure. We had an awesome time canoeing, hiking, cliff jumping, berry picking and building our leadership and land skills.
NYL would not be able to offer our programming without the generous support of our donors! We’re very thankful to ECE, MACA and DHSS for all of their support over the years. #NYL12DaysOfGratitude
We are so grateful for all the support we receive from our community. During this #NYL12DaysOfGratitude, we’d like to thank Kalemi Dene School, NWT Arts Council, Yellowknife Community Foundation, Community Foundations of Canada, and the Lawson Foundation for supporting our camps and for helping make our vision a reality.
A huge #NYL12DaysOfGratitude thank you to @rbc for supporting our Leadership Development Program. This year, 7 youth leaders had the opportunity to build skills and gain confidence through employment with NYL. Thanks for supporting our young leaders!
Youth aged 14-16 paddled 130km from Yellowknife to Behchoko over the course of eleven days. For some, it was their first time canoeing! We all had lots of fun and can't wait to do it again.
Check out this great opportunity for youth!!
At NYL we are inspired every day by the ways youth take leadership in their own communities! From helping out friends and family to starting magazines, youth are doing amazing things. The future is in good hands :)
We were heartbroken to have to postpone the National Inuit Youth Summit (NIYS) this year due to COVID-19, but did not want to take any risks related to the heal...th and wellbeing of our people and communities. While there is still uncertainly around large in-person gatherings/event, we are crossing our fingers and our toes that we will be able to host the event in the summer of 2021 in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. To help us prepare, we would like to encourage all interested Inuit youth between 15 to 30 years of age to complete an application to participate in what will be either an in-person or virtual gathering in summer 2021. We will accept applications until December 18, 2020 and will make participant selections in January 2021. Find out how to apply from your NIYC Representative Apply today with the link below https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSfhSSU_e_2SRoafu/viewform
More amazing coverage! Apparently tonight the youth went ashore for fishing, to have a fire and make bannock, and swimming. They are having a fabulous time and learning lots!
Mataya is one of the staff aboard the Nahidik! A leader in all aspects of her life
Thank you CBC for this great coverage! We have youth onboard from Fort Smith, Hay River, Fort Good Hope, Yellowknife, Ndil, Behchok and Inuvik!
Another picture from the Nahidik! This was right after the group did some safety drills before leaving. They practiced grabbing their life jackets and submersion suits before meeting at the muster point for instructions from the Captain. Don’t worry... they were still docked which is why Emily isn’t wearing her life jacket .
This amazing group of youth left Yellowknife aboard the Nahidik today. Wishing them safe travels and lots of fun!
