Hello Everyone... just a quick bit of shameless self-promotion for an event that may be of interest to some of you NST regulars! Tomorrow night, Thursday September 10 @ 7:30 p.m. Theatre Passe Muraille is presenting a show that is very near and dear to me, Andrew Prashad's ONE STEP AT A TIME: A Father's Journey, for one-night-only online. It's a virtual fundraiser benefitting the theatre and 25% of each ticket goes directly to Toronto Sick Kids Hospital! I've directed this pi...ece since it's inception three years ago, and I do voiceovers live during the show as well as run the music and videos. The show is a one man, one hour musical production featuring multi-disciplined artist Andrew Prashad as he tells his hopeful, inspiring tale of balancing a career in the arts with being a husband and father to three children, one of whom was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. Andrew wrote the show, composed the music & lyrics, and he acts, sings and dances his way through this very extraordinary piece of theatre. There will also be a live post show discussion with both Andrew and me following the "curtain call", so if you're able to watch the show, please make sure to stay for the discussion and take part online. Thank you! Please tell your friends. <3 Tickets are only $40 (all in) and may be purchased via the TPM website at www.passemuraille.ca/one-step-at-a-time p.s. There is a lot of tap dancing in this piece, for those who have a soft spot for that type of dancing! See more
Only one class remains in the Acting Through Song workshops... where did the summer go to? (Say, isn't that a lyric from a Canadian musical?)
What a remarkable couple of weeks this has been. We've already conducted the entire Emerging Artist Acting Through Song workshop, tonight we conclude the Adult workshop and we'll be wrapping up the Tweens and Teens workshop on Friday. As always, our students (sic) teach us as much as we, the instructors, can ever hope to pass along. If you'd like to know more about No Strings Theatre's online classes and upcoming seminars please don't hesitate to let us know what you're interested in. Building Repertoire. Deconstructing the Well Written Musical. Acting Through Song. Weekly Drop In classes... all of these and more are up for discussion. Let's keep the conversation going. Best... Scott
ACTING THROUGH SONG - Aug 17 - 21 So we've experienced the warm up round with the Adults and now it's time for the Emerging Artists intensive... two hours of online classes for the next five days! Looking forward to working with another terrific bunch of No Strings Theatre artists including instructors Denise Williams and Kate Carver. Fingers crossed, voices warmed and... sing! 3TY
Just finished my first online class with No Strings Theatre and... what a blast! This month we're offering three Acting Through Song workshops; today was the beginning of the Adult class, next week we're offering a class for Emerging Artists (ages 18 - 35) and the last week of August we're running one for Teens and Tweens (ages 11 - 18). There's still room in the Teens and Tweens class which runs August 24 - 28 (10:00 - 12:00 each day) and the cost is only $75 because of a generous donation to subsidize classes for young singers. If you're interested in taking part please visit www.nostringstheatre.com and click on the Programs tab to register. Instructors are Denise Williams, Kate Carver and myself, and each workshop offers 10 hours of online instruction. Thank you for allowing me to "attend the party", Denise & Kate! :-) Scott
