I hope you enjoy Jonny Lipford's playing in this review on 5 Mid Native American style flutes. You can check out the full review at https://youtu.be/k3QSAJy7goI and check out all my flutes at www.northernspiritflutes.net
I sent a couple of flutes to my inspiring friend Tony Duncan Music & Dance before Christmas. This is Tony's story from Instagram of him opening and playing the flutes. His joy brought a lot of joy to my heart today, as well. Thanks for sharing your spirit Tony. You light up the world! #inspiration #joy #peace #love #weareallonepeople
My good friend Belinda Daniels has put this amazing learning opportunity together for Cree & Metis youth. Please share with anyone you think may be interested. Scroll down to read more about the program. nehiyawak Language Experience is launching a new program in the new year, 2021. This will be the Master Apprenticeship Program (MAP), but with a technological twist. We will be pairing up 15 mentors with 15 new learners of the Cree language for a total of one year. This will... include (two) 2 week long immersion camps (adhering to Covid 19 restrictions), everyone will also be supplied with an iPad for online learning and software included for language teaching. Ipads will then will be distributed for participants to keep and a participant honorarium will be gifted to each participant at the end of the program. We are paying our mentors and learners to learn and speak Cree! Hours in the language using technology (ipad & online learning) is the goal, along with speaking proficiently in the 'nehiyawewin' language in the end. We will also be doing research on our end for learning language, adult language learning, language revitalization and reclamation and attempting to gain Indigenous language knowledge from everyone's experience. We are excited in being a part of 'creating speakers' for nehiyawewin! hiy hiy Belinda Daniels (Founder of nLE) Ph. D. Candidate at the University of Saskatchewan
Wishing all of my American friends and customers a very happy Thanksgiving. Thank you so much for your friendship and support. Wishing you health and happiness. This is my gift to you. I played this on a Dual Tuned Indigenous Style Flute from Northern Spirit Flutes (www.northernspiritflutes.net). The range for the Star Spangled Banner is too large to play on a single flute. This flute features a Mid A major diatonic flute combined with High D major diatonic flute side by side, similar to a drone flute. I hope you enjoy the video. https://youtu.be/ccUEle4E9X8
Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends and customers. I'm having a sale. You can check it out at https://www.northernspiritflutes.com/
Hi everyone! Hope your years are winding up well. I’d appreciate it if you could help spread the word about the World Music Drumming Courses in Milwaukee June 23-28. Here’s an email message from the new head of World Music Drumming, my good friend and inspiration Patty Bourne. (No. She’s not Jason’s Sister. ) thanks in advance for sharing. HI All, We're looking forward to seeing you at the Ingleside Hotel, Sunday June 23 (dinner at 6:00, evening festivities to follow) - Frid...ay, June 28, for World Music Drumming Level 1, or Level 2, or Level 3, or Beyond the Basics. As many of you know, this event, in the Milwaukee location, is the only residency-based World Music Drumming workshop. It's unique, and it's special, due to the on-going opportunity to be a community together. If you know of others looking for THE BEST professional development of the summer, with on-going opportunities to enjoy the company of new/re-newed friendships, this is the place to be. There is PLENTY of room in each class! -- We would appreciate your efforts to help spread the news and encourage others to join in. We're here to support your marketing strategies, 100%. Let us know what we can do to assist. More information coming your way in a couple of weeks. See you soon! http://www.worldmusicdrumming.com/june-23-28-milwaukee-wi

A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUR STUDENTS AND YOUR SCHOOL!!! I am very excited to let you know Kevin Locke, SongKeeper for the Lakota people, is interested in touring in Canada in 2019. Kevin is a highly sought after presenter and workshop facilitator across North America and around the world. His school school shows are amazing! He's got the whole package: hoop dancing master, storytelling and of course flute playing and making. See what Marlene Hinz, and Arts Education Spec...ialist from Regina has to say about Kevin. Kevin Locke Performs at Jack Mackenzie School, Regina, Sask. We were so fortunate to have Kevin visit our school to perform for the students a couple of years ago. He was an engaging and talented performer who did an absolutely beautiful job of sharing his music, stories and dance in a way that was both entertaining and enlightening. It was wonderful how he included our own students in some portions of his presentation. I would highly recommend his show to any schools or groups who want to connect to the Indigenous culture in a meaningful way. Kevin’s standard fee for school presentations is $1500 USD. However, if we can create a tour with a series of schools over the course of a week in your area, he is ready to offer very special rates in Canadian dollars for our schools. Pricing is based on getting Kevin a weeks worth of work meaning 10 school shows or workshops in your area over the course of 5 days. If you can help make this happen he is ready to offer the school shows for a great deal in CAD per assembly! This is an opportunity you want to take advantage of. Kevin’s assembly program is 60-minutes consisting of Lakota storytelling, flute playing and hoop dance and includes student (and teacher / staff) engagement. He is also available for flute workshops and fundraising, as well. Please contact Kevin’s booking agent Eddie Santos with your questions and to help bring Kevin to your school and area. Like Kevin, let’s hop to it and make this happen! Please see the images to see what a great opportunity this is for your school.
Robert Gatliff is the most amazing flute historian I have ever had the chance to get to know. You have to check out his website https://www.flutetree.com/ where he has researched the history of what has been called the Native American Flute and is also now being called the Indigenous North American Flute. Robert shares some wonderful information on how he teaches kids to make a flute and how he adapts the flute to meet the needs of the kids he works with. This is what it is all about.
