My good friend Belinda Daniels has put this amazing learning opportunity together for Cree & Metis youth. Please share with anyone you think may be interested. Scroll down to read more about the program. nehiyawak Language Experience is launching a new program in the new year, 2021. This will be the Master Apprenticeship Program (MAP), but with a technological twist. We will be pairing up 15 mentors with 15 new learners of the Cree language for a total of one year. This will... include (two) 2 week long immersion camps (adhering to Covid 19 restrictions), everyone will also be supplied with an iPad for online learning and software included for language teaching. Ipads will then will be distributed for participants to keep and a participant honorarium will be gifted to each participant at the end of the program. We are paying our mentors and learners to learn and speak Cree! Hours in the language using technology (ipad & online learning) is the goal, along with speaking proficiently in the 'nehiyawewin' language in the end. We will also be doing research on our end for learning language, adult language learning, language revitalization and reclamation and attempting to gain Indigenous language knowledge from everyone's experience. Pricing is based on getting Kevin a weeks worth of work meaning 10 school shows or workshops in your area over the course of 5 days. Robert Gatliff is the most amazing flute historian I have ever had the chance to get to know. You have to check out his website https://www.flutetree.com/ where he has researched the history of what has been called the Native American Flute and is also now being called the Indigenous North American Flute. Robert shares some wonderful information on how he teaches kids to make a flute and how he adapts the flute to meet the needs of the kids he works with. This is what it is all about.
