THERE IS A MEDIA FREEZE WITH THE GOV'T SO I CANT GIVE YOU KOKANEE SPAWNER UPDATES AND I'VE BEEN SO BUSY WITH WORK THAT I'M OUT OF TOUCH WITH FISHING REPORTS AS WELL. SO MUCH FOR OKANAGAN ANGLERS 101 KEEPING YOU INFORMED. DESPITE ALL THE FREEZES - I CAN TELL YOU THAT THERE IS A COLOSSAL AMOUNT OF OKANAGAN LAKE SHORE SPAWNERS OUT THERE AND IF YOU'D LIKE A CHANCE TO SEE THEM SOME GOOD SPOTS ARE IMMEDIATELY NORTH OF RATTLESNAKE ISLAND, PAUL'S TOMB, IMMEDIATELY NORTH OF WHISKY (TURD) ISLAND, NORTH OF CAMERON POINT DIRECTLY BELOW THE "SLIDE" AND IMMEDIATELY SOUTH OF OKANGAN LAKE RESORT WHERE ALL THOSE HOUSES HAVE THE STEEP CLIFFS BELOW AND STAIRCASES LEADING DOWN TO THEIR DOCKS....TO NAME A FEW. HOPE YOUR GETTING SOME GOOD FALL FISHING IN DESPITE THIS COOL WEATHER. WISH I WAS OUT THERE FISHING

INVASIVE SPECIES..... A TOPIC WE OKANAGAN ANGLERS MUST BE AWARE OF AND HELP INFORM OTHERS I may seem to bring this subject up more often than others but a few things have come up recently on various fishing sites that have raised my alarm bells and I think need to be re-addressed despite most of you knowing it anyway. This may be a longer read but If you have a moment, please take the time........ I'd like to start by saying that the list of region 8 lakes that you are allow...Continue reading

JUST AN UPDATE/MORE INFORMATIVE PICTURE OF THE SUGAR LAKE BULL TROUT STUDY......

Okanagan Anglers 101 08.09.2020

SUGAR LAKE MARK AND RECAPTURE, BULL TROUT EXPLOITATION (BY ANGLERS) STUDY ON NOW. $100 AND $10 REWARD TAGS ON FISH. Your angling license dollars are at work for this study on Sugar Lake. The Ministry has tagged around 70 Bull Trout with reward tags (attached at the back end of the dorsal fin). If you catch a Bull trout with a tag please cut off the tag and claim your reward. More importantly, please record the length of the fish as accurately as possible and make note of where you caught it. Call the number on the tag and relay the info. The success of the project relies on angler feedback so please do what you can.

SOME WHOPPER FISH AND JUST PLAIN HAPPY FISHERMEN THIS SPRING IN THE OKANAGAN.... Firstly congrats to Rick Lucas for catching the biggest kokanee I've seen in a few years at Kalamalka Lake (25 inches, 7 pounds). Also have to give a shout out to my Dad, Frank Webster who got some beauties from Phillips Lake today. And finally, way to go Sandi Beck-vandenbrand and her sister for getting some beautiful White Lake trout a few weeks back.

JUST THOUGHT I'D REPOST THIS ARTICLE FROM BC FISHN ABOUT PRE-SPAWN RAINBOWS. I'VE SEEN MANY POSTS OF LATE WITH PEOPLE HARVESTING SOON TO BE SPAWNERS. IF THEY ARE WANTING TO HARVEST THEM THEN THATS FINE BUT SOMETIMES THEY DONT REALISE IT UNTIL THEY GET HOME AND DISCOVER ALL THE FULLY DEVELOPED EGGS IN THE BODY CAVITY. GOOD ARTICLE, CHECK IT OUT...... https://www.bcfishn.com/tips-how-to-recognize-mature-soon-/

For us fishermen to keep in mind..... The expert says passing the virus outside when you are simply walking by someone (at a boat launch for example) is unlikely. Its the INSIDE close contact that is more threatening. Makes me wonder even more why all these boat launches and Forest rec Sites are being closed ? I guess they have their reasons ????

I REALLY DON'T LIKE PEOPLE TELLING US ANGLERS WE CAN'T FISH . IF YOUR WONDERING, HERE IS THE SUGGESTIONS/GUIDLINES FROM PROVINCIAL HEALTH ON HOW WE SHOULD GO ABOUT FISHING COVID-19 STYLE. LETS ALL BE SMART ABOUT IT AND GIVE US FISHERMEN A GOOD RESPONSIBLE REPUTATION....... Currently, the Provincial Health Officer (PHO) has not issued any orders restricting individuals from angling and/or hunting at this time. At all times, individuals are expected to follow the orders and gu...idance provided by the Provincial Health Officer (PHO). Specific guidance for angling and hunting activities, including but not limited to: Only fish and hunt with members of your family or others you are living with. Maintain physical distancing (2 metres or 6 feet) from other individuals you come across. Do not share vehicles with individuals outside of your family or others you are living with. Fish and hunt locally. Wash your hands frequently, especially around communal areas such as boat ramps, gates, etc. Adhere to all travel advisories and self isolation requirements. Adhere to all municipal, First Nation community, provincial and federal closures (e.g. parks, infrastructure, etc.). Many BC Parks and recreation sites are closed. It is suggested to check ahead. If you are not confident you can meet all of these conditions, please postpone your trip. All angling and hunting regulations and licensing requirements are still in effect. The Conservation Officer Service is continuing to operate across BC. See more
