ADOPTED This sweet Daisy girl is still looking for a forever home! She is in Foster with Michelle in Vernon, call or text 250-550-5765. She is 2-3years old,... shy at first but comes around when she has gained some confidence & trust. She comes out to say hi during the day, but is mostly social in the evening & nights, cuddling and visiting. She has become quite the cuddler! She has a great loud purr and chirps with her belly rubs. She’s good with older kids and would do best in a quieter home without other animals. She is an absolute treat & has a sweet easy going personality! See more

This week OHS has a massive feral cat rescue underway in Cherryville. We need your help getting these cats in and fixed before the snow flies, and before more... kittens are born in the cold. If you can help, we need: transport to/from vets in Vernon; Farm homes with warm closed rooms in barns for 2-3 rescued fixed cats to live out their lives; and donations for vet costs. This rescue will cost over $6,000 to fix, vaccinate and treat 20+ feral (unadoptable) cats and older kittens needing farm homes. This mission work is carried out by OHS year round all over the Okanagan Valley. It is key to stopping breeding and preventing cat overpopulation, suffering outside, attracting predators, and/or succumbing to disease and injuries. Anyway you can help, please do: Farm cat adoptions: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FarmCatADOPTIONFORM Donate: https://okanaganhumanesociety.com/donate/ Volunteer: https://okanaganhumanesociety.com/volunteer/

The ginger kitten with the BIG BIG HEART.. matched only by Anna’s Sharp Cheddar Weasley was found alone in bushes in Spallumcheen/ Armstrong area. A young ...lady passing by followed the sound of an animal screaming which led her to this little girl She scooped it up and brought it to her car. She thought the little kitten had a broken leg because it would not stop screaming! She wasn’t sure what to do with it and reached out to friends. My son saw the post and said, bring her to my mom! Just So you know, ‘Mom’ does not know how to fix a tiny kitten bones!!! But I did scoop her into my arms and feed her, which made the screaming stop! This was on June 26th Cheddar acts like she has the energy of other kittens her age although when my MILs cat chased and scratched her she had to sleep it off for two days. She is a loud breather with some snorks and she sure snores! She has a sensitive tummy and man, if I was allowed more than one permanent cat she’d be it! Cheddar was diagnosed with an enlarged heart. I think her large heart makes her more lovey ........... Pumpkin Sculpting adventure. My good friend, Darcie DH grows these magic, HUGE pumpkins that have a softer skin and flesh which makes them easier to sculpt. She showed me how to use tools that are usually used for clay to sculpt pumpkins. I find it so challenging and fun and hopefully I get better every year. We sculpted pumpkins for the Armstrong Chamber of Commerce and the Armstrong Pumpkin Festival happening today. With donations going towards a sick little foster kitten we have taking care of through the Okanagan Humane Society, who most likely has heart disease. Little ‘Sharp Cheddar Weasley’ is so grateful for the love and support Please go to the Armstrong pumpkin fest and support Anna’s fundraiser for our Sharp Cheddar Weasley. https://okanaganhumanesociety.com/donate/ Keely, Anna and Darcie sculpted some pumpkins and Anna prepared 50 pumpkin fest to go bags for children who are unable to attend. For our efforts the chamber is giving us a stipend to go towards Cheddars medical bills since being rescued and in foster. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=136026841568930&id=108864684285146

Being an unneutered boy cat can be rough. Fighting for food and breeding rights is instinctive as it is quite literally ‘in their blood’ due to their hormones. ... Once fixed, they settle, stop fighting most of the time, remaining active mousers and become even better pets! The stinky ‘Tom-Cat’ pee smell dissipates in a matter of days after being neutered as the hormones leave the body quickly. This poor dude was rescued this week by kind neighbours in Kelowna. He is in stage 3 kidney failure from dehydration and starvation due largely to ulcers in his mouth and infected teeth and gums. Dr. Bimal has added a feeding tube to help with nourishment until his sores, gums and kidneys have a chance to recover with antibiotics, fluids and special food. A significant dental will be necessary for this fella too once he is stabilized. Thank you Tammy for saving him and caring enough to call OHS and get him treatment. Alpine Pet Hospital is on it, and doing their best If you can contribute to life saving care for this fellow and others like him, please go online and donate for a tax receipt. Their lives depend on your kindness and generosity. Thank you ! https://okanaganhumanesociety.com/donate/
