The people and the culture of Yuquot was a huge inspiration to our business. Keep it simple, go to your roots. It still amazes me that the history of this area remains unknown to most Canadians. Salts of the Earth, protectors of the past. Our thoughts are with the Williams Family in their effort to get this message out. www.yuquot.ca

One Tree Paddles - Summer Season 2019 Important Message After 10 years, we have decided to take a break from our regular operations during the 2019 summer season. This decision has not come easy, there is nowhere we’d rather be than on the water playing with the waves and the whales. We pride ourselves on offering the highest quality and most eco-minded services to paddlers around Vancouver Island. Due to a combination of personal loss and personnel injury, we have been force...d to recalculate our course. Rest assured we will be taking this time to further refine our operations and contingencies to ensure we can continue to offer kayak and paddle boarding services to visitors to the Central Vancouver Island region. The Background This winter, we experienced many days of storm-force winds which resulted in wide-spread damages throughout our community. In an epic tale of irony, we had a seventy-foot tree fall on our house. The hours that were traditionally spent maintaining our handcrafted equipment had to be reallocated to the management of home restorations and relocation of our family. Fast Approaching With the season fast approaching, we had hopes of racing through our delayed workload to prepare our fleet for operations. For anyone who has experience with woodworking and/or fibreglassing; you will appreciate that speed is not your ally. As a reminder to take things slow, our founder and head guide has found himself with a knee injury. With all odds stacking against us, we have decided to error on the side of caution and to postpone our services until May 2020. The Implications We would like to thank you all for your interest in our tours and services. Most all service inquiries have been notified of the challenges we have faced and informed that our season may not happen. For the few customers who have attempted to make online bookings, and pay tour deposits, you will be contacted directly and you will receive 100% of your tour deposit money back. Happy Paddling One Tree Paddles
