Operation Spay & Neuter 04.02.2021

THANK YOU to Projet Meow Wouf for their help on Tuesday to help us cash in some of our EMPTIES for a total of $157.20 and for taking a large load of cans to the Beer Store for yet another $202. today making our total $359.20 for empties cashed in this week. We have another large amount of empties to bring in this week which we expect will bring our grand total over $600.00 which for us is a record!! We also want to thank everybody for saving us your empties and for believing... us and in our rescue and for your support in our mission to control the overpopulation crisis of abandoned, homeless and feral cats because together we can, we will and we are putting an end to this needless suffering, abuse and cruelty to the only animal on earth that loves you 100% unconditionally, the cat! Next to "mans best friend" the dog that is! Thanks again everybody!!! https://www.facebook.com/pourchatsetchiens) See more

My sweet precious Panther has finally had his wish come true!!! He has officially been adopted by a very kind loving lady who couldn't wait to get him home so they could both start a new chapter in their lives. I wish them both lots of love and years of happiness as they embark on a whole new journey in life. Thank you Brenda Pasher. I know Panther can't replace your beautiful Fluffy anymore than you can replace his dad but I'm sure that you will both help heal the sadness and the grief you feel at this time. Xxxooo I Love You Panther xxx, ooo (((hugs))) and head bumps buddy!!!!

A little walk down memory lane.. . Some of you may remember this poor abandoned cat that we got from a lady in Pinehill back in 2016 or 2017 after he came out of the woods and showed up on her doorstep in horrible condition. He was so sick and filthy. His ears had frozen and were so badly infected and he had a very painful condition called Entropion which is a very painful condition of the eyes where the eyelids turn inwards forcing the eyelashes to scratch and irritate the ...eyes. Needless to say, the cat we named Buddy had to undergo surgery on his eyelids. He was neutered and his ears were also treated at the same time. It took time for his recovery because this cat had obviously gone through a lot of trauma to his ears and eyes. As his condition improved and he gained some weight he was awesome with the other rescue cats and with the people he met over the next few weeks. Buddy drew the attention of one man in particular who just had to adopt him. At first I will admit that I was a bit worried, ok a lot about letting him go to someone I hadn't even met, but because a friend and fellow cat rescuer Sue Nicholson of Paws for Thor's Cause vouched for this guy I decided to take her word that he was going to a very good home where he would be loved and spoiled. Well to this day I have to admit that this truly was a great decision because not only is he loved and spoiled he's also got his own Instagram page and a new name. His name was changed to Boris and you can find his page on Instagram under the name of: itsboristime. Below the first two photos are other photos I got off Boris's page. Take a look at the photos and I'll let you all decide for yourself whether of not he is well loved and cared for. I for one could not be happier for him.

We wish to thank Lucie Lajeunesse of Projet Meow Wouf for helping us to cash in all glass bottles donated by our friends and supporters. Today's empties helped raise $157.20 for our rescue. Another load of empties will be cashed in on Saturday. Weather permitting.

WARNING!!! At 6:00 a.m. this morning 3 Coyotes were spotted on Regent Street between Hampden Street and Hamilton Street. Two of the three coyotes ran off with two cats!!!! Sorry no description of the cats. :( if your cat hasn't come home then this mat be the reason why. PEOPLE, PLEASE KEEP YOUR CATS INDOORS FROM 4:00 PM TO 7 or 8:00 AM.!!!!!... These and other wildlife are losing more and more of their natural habitat so food sources are scarce so now they have no choice but to come into town were cats and small dogs are plenty. Attach a catio to one of your windows so your cats can go outside yet run in the house when danger is near!!!

French translation follows / La traduction française suit 21 days ago on Sept. 18, OSN was once again called to go over into Grenville at the exact same location where Alpha was found to pick up this severely dehydrated and emaciated declawed and neutered 3.6 pound Exotic Short Hair Persian. He was in horrible shape and may have died within the next couple of hours had we not taken him into our rescue. He was so far gone that he just didn't care anymore and was refusing to ...Continue reading

UPDATE: THANK YOU to Laura Barker of Barking Beauties/Whisper's Wish Cat Rescue for accepting "Mia" to join her rescue. Mia and her babies will hopefully be ready to transfer over to her next adventure in the next couple of days. Made some progress today with Mama "Mia" without getting slapped!! I actually managed to pet her on the head and scratched her ears and chin. It's when I stopped that she hissed at me. LOL. She truly is a sweet little cat and she's an awesome youn...g mom to her two beautiful baby boys! All three are doing great and Mia is coming along nicely. URGENT NEED OF AN APPROVED RESCUE WHO IS ABLE TO TAKE IN THIS BEAUTY WHO WAS RUSHED OVER TO ME EARLIER TODAY AFTER SHE WAS FOUND THIS MORNING GIVING BIRTH IN AN OLD BARN!! ONLY 2 KITTENS SO FAR. IF you have room or if you have a foster able to help care for her and her two babies please contact me A. S. A. P. She was a once owned pet but now is a bit weary of people! Like me!! Lol

A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM "OPERATION SPAY & NEUTER": I want to thank everyone for your continued support over the passed 7 + years of operating this low-cost spay & neuter program. Unfortunately, after this Tuesday's Spay Day on October 3rd, I will be suspending the program indefinitely. This was not a decision I made lightly and have been trying to keep it functional but under the circumstances I have no choice but to close. It has been hard to find a new driver that co...uld transport up to 18 cats since Sylvie and Lynn left the group, plus with the Covid-19 pandemic and now a second wave going through it has become far too risky to be in contact with so many people especially since my mother's immune system is so weak during her battle with lung cancer. I need to take care of my mom and focus on her during this difficult time in her life as we simply don't know how long she has with us. I will not be closing my rescue but I will not be able to take in any more cats at this time either. I will however help out in any way I can to help find placement for cats in need of help. I don't know what the future holds in store for OSN but all I ask for right now is for you to help me find good responsible homes for cats that we currently need to find homes for by sharing their photos and information. Applications will still need to be approved in order that we can assure that each cat is placed in a loving, responsible and permanent home. Adoption fees apply. ** Remember a cat is not disposable, a cat is meant to be an addition to the family and cannot be thrown away when you no longer want it. If you are moving make sure you can take your cat with you; If you're allergic then don't get a cat. Our cats are not declawed so if you love your furniture more than the cat then don't get a cat, or contact other rescues and SPCA's to inquire about any declawed cats that may be in need of a loving home but make sure you ask why the owners surrendered or abandoned their pets before you go out and have one declawed!! So THANK YOU everyone for your understanding and your support. I will continue to help abandoned and homeless cats throughout the winter as much as I can but the SPAY DAY PROGRAM has been indefinitely suspended pending the outcome of the pandemic. I wish I could recommend another rescue that could help you but I don't know of another rescue that offers low-cost spaying and neurtering. PS....There is still a bit of room left for a few more males and females for this Tuesday's final SPAY DAY. Pregnant, homeless, barn and feral cats are a top priority. Payable via E-Transfer or cash. Please contact us for a Spay Day Application via Messenger. Thank you

A French update follows / Une mise à jour française suivra... Friday, September 25, 2020 - UPDATE Treasure has been slowly regaining his strength along with a bit of much needed weight gain. As of yesterday he now weighs in at 5.8 lbs. He still has more weight to gain until he reaches a healthy weight of 7-9 lbs for his breed and size. So he still has between 1.2 and 3.2 lbs to go.... When we rescued Treasure, he was a mere 3.6 lbs and could barely walk because he would fall over from lack of energy. His tiny little body was just dry skin on bone. He had no muscle tone left and would have died had we not gone to get him. After seeing the vet and following his treatment and rehab he is expected to make a complete recovery. He has a follow up appointment in a few weeks so hopefully he will be feeling much better. He's been through Hell and back but this precious little Treasure never gave up and just when he thought he was going to die cold, alone, starving and afraid his light at the end of his tunnel was a bright set of headlights from my friend's car and a bunch of people who worked together to save him.

Yup, it's that time of the year again to start getting those winterized shelters ready. Please don't leave them out in the cold!

Voir la traduction en français ci-dessous ... UPDATE: SEPT. 22, 2020 Treasure now weighs: 5.4 lbs. (gained 1-1/2 lbs). He still has more weight to gain and needs to regain his strength and energy. ... He was thrown outside, declawed and left to starve. When we got him he was a mere 3.6 lbs and may have died that night (Sept. 12th) as the temperature was much cooler at night and with no weight on his bones and only the drying flesh of a severely dehydrated and emaciated little black exotique shorthair persian who had lost his strength to walk without falling over he never would have survived and would have succumbed to hypothermia all because he pee'd in the house. What kind of a person does that to a defenceless little cat?
