On September 30th we wear orange! Today is an annual opportunity to remember, raise awareness about, and generate conversation on the Indian Residential School System and it's intergenerational legacy. It also provides an opportunity for reconciliation and healing to occur. Big thank you to all of you for donating masks to the OSNS in the past month. This includes our very own Lucy Woodhouse, Shelley Clarke, and members of the Kiwanis Club of Penticton for taking the time and using their wonderful creativity to sew a number of beautiful and fun masks. Our team members and the children + parents who come to the OSNS for in-person services have hugely benefitted by these generous donations. If you are looking for an organization to donate masks ...or you have handy sewing skills please remember us! Stay safe, wash your hands, and be kind. #communitysupport #southokanagan #compassion #grateful

Penticton - Today the Knights of Pythias Lodge #49 came by and presented a cheque for $500 to the OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre. Following the principles of Friendship, Charity and Benevolence, the service work of the Knights of Pythias was originally responsible for building the pediatric gym at OSNS in 1995. Their sustained dedication to the children and families of the South Okanagan is both inspiring and appreciated. This donation will help support the OSNS with the purchasing of additional therapy equipment. Our new gazebo is here! It will serve as a wonderful outdoor treatment space. We are very thankful for the help we received from the Penticton Sunrise Rotary members. They worked outside all afternoon in the hot sun, we wouldn’t have been able to do it without you. #grateful #OtisArmy

"COVID-19 is having a disproportionate impact on vulnerable populations in our region and across Canada. This pandemic has created an increase in demand for local services, shortages in supplies, and disruption in service for our community and social service organizations" The impact on the OSNS families who have children with significant developmental needs has - and continues to be - profound. As a recipient of 35K from the Emergency Community Support Funding , OSNS would l...ike to thank the United Way Southern Interior BC. The OSNS was built in 1996 for the children of the South Okanagan. It has grown to become a welcoming space for over 1600 children annually with treatment for children in need of help, their families and for innovative programming for children who are typically developing. We are so grateful for the generosities and heartfelt sentiments that have been extended to the OSNS. "At the end of the day, quality of care making sure that children and their families get what they need is about love" Our community and local support has shown that love and its made such a positive impact #strongertogether #unitedwaysibc #locallove #ECSFund See more
