Gurdwara Closure Effective Dec. 26, 2020 Sadh Sangat ji, Due to the significant increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, the provincial government has ordered a province-wide shutdown starting on Saturday, December 26, 2020.... Keeping the health and well-being of the entire Sangat in mind and in compliance with the new restrictions, we will be closing the Gurdwara Sahib until further notice. This closure will start on Saturday December 26, 2020. All programs on December 26th and afterwards have been suspended. Sadh Sangat ji, we are deeply saddened about this necessary action as you have been deprived of unrestricted Darshan-Didaray of Guru Sahib since last March. Let us all join hands to do an Ardaas to get rid of this disease. Gurdwara Operations Fund The Gurdwara has many fixed expenses such as utilities, salaries, mortgage, and repairs. As attendance has dropped 80% since the beginning of the pandemic, the regular donations from the golak that would help sustain the Gurdwara operations have decreased significantly. We need ongoing support from Sangat in order to keep the Gurdwara operational. Please consider donating on a monthly basis to help ensure there is a regular funding source for the operational needs. Land Purchase Fund With Guru's grace and your unwavering support, we have raised over $425,000 for the Land Purchase Fund. We are close to our initial goal of $500,000 and are continuing our fundraising activities. Please donate your Dasvandh as soon as possible. If you have made a contribution already and are able to help the Gurdwara more, we would appreciate it very much. We are grateful to Ottawa sangat for respecting COVID guidelines and following the directions of the sevadars and directors. From social distancing to wearing masks to not lighting diyas, everyone was very co-operative. This is the kind of behaviour that allows us to hold celebratory events. One notable exception was a group of young men who wilfully chose to ignore our requests and the city by-laws by lighting large fireworks. This is the kind of activity that results in celebratory events bring cancelled, large fines being charged, and facilities being closed. Fundraising & Sale of 66 Rideau Heights House Sadh Sangat ji, Once again our congratulations to Ottawa Sikh Sangat for approving the purchase of property (86 Rideau Heights Dr.) in front of Gurdwara entrance. This property has eluded OSS quite a number of times in the past and this time when it was put on sale, with Guru’s blessings and encouragement from Sangat, we have been able to get a purchase agreement. OSS Board sevadars have already started working diligently to make ...this happen. The house behind the Gurdwara (66 Rideau Heights Dr.) has been listed on MLS for sale at $499,900. Following Gurbani teachings, Sangat has always been doing seva at Gurdwara sahib with ‘Tan, Man and Dhan I offer my body, mind and wealth to anyone who can unite me with God. O Nanak, my doubts and fears have been dispelled, and the Messenger of Death does not see me any longer. OSS has not done fundraising for almost over 20 years. Sangat has been doing great seva with ‘Tan and Man’ and now, this is our opportunity for participating in this seva with ‘Dhan’. With the sale of the house above and about 100 families donating 5K each, we can meet our target for the down payment. Sat Sri Akal ji, Announcing the launch and reopening of OSS Punjabi School - ONLINE! We are very excited to announce the re-opening of OSS Punjabi School - ONLINE! It’s been a busy few week for staff and volunteers to prepare and sort out logistics due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Teachers have been busy ensuring the curriculum is organized and ready for online teaching. OSSPS will be using Google Classroom to teach students online in a safe and interactive learning environment.... School will be open online each Sunday between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, starting on Sunday, 25-Oct-2020. More details will follow in the coming days. Sadh Sangat Ji, Starting this Sunday there will be Asa Di Var Kirtan at Gurdwara Sahib. The Sukhmani Sahib Paath is also recited every Sunday. Apart from this Gurdwara Sahib is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm for Darshan and Mattha Tek. Sadh Sangat, at present only Giani ji can do Paath, Kirtan and Chaur Seva. The Sangat must remain silent, listen to Gurbani and participate in Ardas. We are also requesting you to keep a safe distance of 6 feet while in the Gurdwara Sahib o...r sitting in the Divan Hall. Please ensure to sit at the places marked with green dots. Program Details: Asa Di Var Kirtan - 8:00 am to 9:30 am Paath Sukhmani Sahib 10:30 am to 12:30 There is a one hour gap between both programs for cleaning and disinfection. Gurdwara Sahib is open daily for Darshan and Mattha Tek from 9:00am to 5:00pm and Sukhmani Sahib is recited every Sunday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The Sangat is requested again to keep a safe distance of 6 feet while in the Gurdwara Sahib or sitting in the Divan Hall. Please sit at the places marked with green dots. Only the Giani can do Paath and Chaur Seva. At present only they can recite Paath in the Divan Hall. The entire Sangat must remain silent and listen to Gurbani and participate in Ardas. All other weekly programs and Guru ka Langar are still on hold. It is further requested that you only come to Gurdwara Sahib when you feel fully healthy and limit your visit to Divan Hall. You may use washrooms if needed but avoid going to other parts of Gurdwara Sahib building. If there is a need to talk to Giani ji please talk to them on phone or call them outside. Sadh Sangat ji, we are well aware that these restrictions are very strict but it is very important to follow the instructions of the government and the public health department.
