We're getting in the Holiday Spirit this week! Heading down to Tsawwassen Springs for the Festival of Lights 2020. This year, The Outpost has a tree in this fun and beautiful event, which raises money for Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation. If you live nearby, it's a great way to enjoy a holiday tradition outdoors, and at a distance. Open to the public starting November 27.... https://www.tsawwassensprings.ca/festival-of-lights/

These docks sure went for a wild ride last week in the #BCStorm hurricane winds. But like everything in Winter Harbour, they are resilient and will be there waiting for visitors in the Spring again. If you haven’t booked for 2021, get on it! This last summer was almost sold out. Reserve your dates well in advance so you don’t miss out. Winter Harbour is an amazing adventure for everyone: fishing, hiking, beach combing, exploring, photography, surfing. This is your home base for the North Island wilderness.

A little damage this week from the hurricane force winds on Monday. It was fun to watch from our sheltered spot, and walk around the next few days to see how it all played out. The storm surge and king tide brought the water up over the boardwalk and shores in many spots. Unfortunately the boardwalk has lost a bit of railings, boards and a section... but nothing that can't be fixed! We lost a glass panel on the deck, and lots of debris around. But everyone is safe and sound... and now that the power is back on after 4 days we are warm too.

Think Winter Harbour is only good for exploring in Summer? Think again. Some of the best memories, stories, experiences and photos have come from North Island in the Fall. The storms, the colours, the wildlife and the intensity of Mother Nature come together to show us how wild this area really is. ... Plan your trip for 2021 to explore North Island. Winter Harbour can be your base for a magical adventure. #northisland #vancouverisland #photosbc #bcadventure #tourismbc #welovethisplace #winterharbour #capescott #sanjobay #grantbay

Before and after! This was quite the week of wind & rain. The hurricane force winds of Monday evening hit 150km at Solander and pushed a storm surge into the harbour we hadn’t seen before! A few lots got flooded, water pipes broken, and the boardwalk broken in spots. It’s been a few days still without power and almost 2 days without water. Quite a challenge! ... But Winter Harbour is used to challenges and we’re up for the task! All will be well again soon #winterharbour #bcstorm #stormsurge #northisland
