The Changing of Hands A new chapter for Homfray Lodge under the stewardship of Klahoose First Nation. After four memorable years, Pacific Coastal Cruises & Tours is saddened to announce that we have ended our management agreement with Homfray Lodge. The onset of COVID-19 has brought with it many challenges, particularly within the tourism industry. Adapting to this new reality means accepting some difficult losses.... When we first set eyes on Homfray Lodge, it was empty of everything but limitless potential. With vision, careful planning and a lot of elbow grease, we transformed every room into a welcoming place, drawing guests from around the world. Once-in-a-lifetime experiences were had by many, and countless bucket-lists became shorter after a visit to the incomparable Desolation Sound. We like to think we had a hand in putting this magical piece of paradise on the map, and we can’t wait to visit again when our coastal cruises are running once more. An eco lodge without compare, Homfray has been aptly renamed the Klahoose Wilderness Resort, and we are confident that while the responsibility for the lodge is changing hands, it’s natural allure will continue to charm the most discerning of visitors. We want to thank the staff, management and, above all, the guests who came from far and wide to create the unforgettable moments that have become our fondest memories. Pacific Coastal Cruises & Tours will continue to sail the waters of the Sound and we look forward to introducing the Klahoose Wilderness Resort to our new and returning guests.

Happy #Thanksgiving to all our Canadian followers! We hope you all enjoyed a relaxing long weekend with delicious food and great company. Although this year has been very different for us than others, we still have so much to be thankful for at Pacific Coastal Cruises; our team, our understanding and loyal guests and most importantly, our health. Perhaps this has been the greatest year for grateful reflection. We can’t wait to see you in 2021.

This week would have marked the start of our Grizzly Bear Viewing Season. Although we are sad we wont be up in Toba this fall, we wish our partners at @klahoosecoastaladventures the very best this season. We will be eagerly following along to see how the bears are doing.

Our final Phase 3 Travel Tip: Be Calm, Be Patient, Be Kind Right now, activities may take longer than normal. Longer lineups and lower capacities are to be expected. Make reservations or have plan B ready in case your plans have to change. We are all in this together so be patient, be patient and be kind! Be aware, smart and respectful. We can’t wait to see what you get up to this summer!

Phase 3 Travel Tip: Pack Essentials Try to reduce the amount of stops you make along the drive or at your destination. Stock up at your local grocery stores, liquor stores and camping outfitters before you leave home. This will help reduce your contact points in rural communities where they may be experiencing supply issues and and have limited health care facilities. Remember to pack your own PPE, many public places are not providing it. Be aware, smart and respectful. We can’t wait to see what you get up to this summer!

Phase 3 Travel Tip: More Time, Fewer Locations Instead of touring multiple destinations during one trip, choose one destination or accommodation for your entire trip. Use this as your ‘home base’ for exploring all nearby destinations. Be aware, smart and respectful. We can’t wait to see what you get up to this summer!

British Columbia is officially entering Phase 3 of our Restart Plan with relaxed restrictions on travel between BC communities. At Pacific Coastal, we are committing to sharing the recommended tips and protocols from our Government for our continued safety. Today’s Tip: Stay Apart, Stay Safe Continue to practice physical distancing, especially around people outside your small social bubble. ... Be aware, smart and respectful. We can’t wait to see what you get up to this summer!
