New at the clinic this week. Welcome aboard Tennille.
Your best posture is your next posture! There is no perfect static posture. We are designed to move, not to sit perfectly straight. So just move into your nex...t posture and slouch Great post by @paincloud1, shared by @hamishthephysio! The belief of an ideal posture is ingrained in society. Lets work together as health professionals to change this. As the infamous @adammeakins once said ‘Your best posture is your next posture’.
This is why exercise is good for you! It keeps your muscles, mind and bones strong!

PAIN IS NOT A BAD THING If we are always looking to modify pain what does that say about pain? Pain is normal. You want to have it. ... Back pain is very normal. Nearly all of us will get some in our lifetime. Sure, movements that provoke extreme pain, whatever that is , should probably be minimised. BUT pain self efficacy is knowing it is OK to carry on with a bit of pain. Perhaps this is part of the key to reducing the transition to long term pain, being (more) comfortable that it is normal and OK and is likely to reduce. Maybe pain self efficacy is a key to increasing resilience when someone does have long term pain. Fear avoidance seems to be maintained by avoidance, perhaps pain self efficacy might be impacted by the desire to modify pain rather than confront it.

There is no ‘bad’ posture. Please stop catastrophic-izing yourself. Take breaths and slowly move into the other postures you haven’t been using. Come see me for more info
