Definitely worth the read! I work with several university age students who struggle with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. This is a valuable perspective that I think students, parents, educators and the general public need to understand. The behavioral manifestation we see does not often reflect the underlying effort, intention, and cause. The judgement (by self and others) that follows creates a heavy blanket of shame that exacerbates the lack of engagement. The only way to address this is to come at things from a place of understanding and empowerment.

This is reflective of what I’m seeing in my practice as well. People are struggling. Please remember to look after your mental health while we also safeguard our physical health. Connect with others in whatever way feels safe, reach out to supports (friends, family, and professional health care workers), stay mentally and physically active. We’ll get through this.
