Parkland PASS 19.01.2021

Merry Christmas from all of us at Parkland PASS

Parkland PASS 01.01.2021

Hi everyone! My name is Rebecca Stiller and I have been part of the Parkland PASS Board of Directors since the organization's inception in early 2019. I have had the immense privilege of taking part in performing arts activities since before I can remember, thanks to my very supportive and hardworking parents. From choir to dance to theatre, I've enjoyed them all, and these experiences have impacted me in more ways than I can count. Because of performing arts I am confident s...peaking in groups, I have learned how to think on my feet, and I know what it takes to fall and then get up and keep going. Most importantly, I know what it means to invest in something bigger than myself, what it means to truly be part of a team working towards a unified goal. It is this sense of community that sparked the idea for Parkland PASS, as I observed the young people around me taking part in that same team, in that same investment. I watched as they built confidence, developed friendships, and practiced a new skill with determination until they got it just right. I got to see them lift one another up in rehearsal and flourish on stage. It's difficult for me to put into words what the performing arts community in Parkland County means to me, but I hope that I can do it justice through my work with the Parkland PASS organization. I couldn't be more excited for our future as a charity and our opportunity to impact the lives of people of all ages through involvement in performing arts.

Greeting everyone! I am Taylor Winfield and I am the Vice President and one of the founding members of Parkland PASS. During the day I can be found in the trades playing in concrete as a concrete finisher. At night I am a dance instructor at a local non-profit performing arts studio. As mentioned, I have had the opportunity to be teaching dance for the past 5 years. Prior to teaching I've been dancing since I was only 7 or 8. My preferred genre of dance is Hip Hop and the man...y styles within it. I have also danced Ukrainian for a year and Contemporary for the past 5. Being able to grow up in the performing arts I have always had a feeling of family and a sense of community. Now that I’m a little older and have stepped into a teaching and role model position I can now see how growing up in the Arts has positively affected me in so many amazing ways. Not only learning new skills through dance that I’ve been able to implement outside of dance in everyday life but also have learned how to display my confidence, have trust in myself and others around me, and how to show, read, and communicate emotions in a positive manner. It has given me an identity and a sense of character that I am proud of and love seeing that similar identity forming in the students that I teach. I became a part of this extraordinary group of people who all share the same belief and passion of the impact the Performing Arts can have not only on children and youth but also adults of all ages, genders, and ethnic orientation. My dream is to give everyone and anyone who wishes to partake in the Performing Arts that opportunity. I am very excited to see what we can accomplish and how many lives we can bolster with this organization.

Hello everyone, I am Karen. I am excited and honored to be a member of on the Board of Directors for Parkland PASS. It is a cause that I am passionate about. I have always been involved in performing arts as youth I spent years in baton twirling, band, drama and choral, both in student and leadership roles. Performing arts is a great outlet for physical and mental abilities. In addition, being part of these different groups creates a sense of togetherness and community.... As an adult, I am now involved in a different aspect parenting children in those performing arts activities. I see where that sense of community and accomplishment has such a positive impact. When I heard about the work that PASS was doing, I was eager to help out in any way that I could. I have served on several different boards over the years. I recognize the importance of being involved and giving back. I am a Chartered Professional Accountant and have taken on the role of treasurer for PASS. In addition to my work as an accountant, I love spending time with my family husband, children, and now grandchildren. Plus my extended family 1 dog, 1 cat, 3 miniature donkeys and 1 mini mule. Hey everyone - my name is Stephanie Nixon and I am one of the founding board members of Parkland PASS and currently the Secretary on the Board of Directors. In the professional world I am a Human Resources Specialist and love what I do but my drive and passion for everything comes from my husband and 1 year old son. I have been apart of the performance arts community for over 10 years working back stage and controlling the lights on stage during performances and for the past... 7 years have taken Hip Hop classes although, I wouldn’t pay to see me preform. I have seen first hand how performing arts and the community behind it has had such a positive impact in so many lives. Performing arts is an amazing outlet for people of all ages. Over the years I’ve seen life long friendships be created, people find their spouses, people’s creativity flourish and use performing arts as an outlet through peaks and the valleys of life. I am so grateful to be apart of Parkland PASS and excited to help give the opportunity for people to peruse their love for the performing arts!
