If you don't leave your past in the past, it will destroy your future. Live for what today has to offer, not for what yesterday has taken away.If you don't leave your past in the past, it will destroy your future. Live for what today has to offer, not for what yesterday has taken away.

It seems almost too simple to be true, but acceptance -- accepting things exactly as they are -- can be the key that unlocks the door to happiness. The key to my serenity is acceptance. But "acceptance" does not mean that I have to like it, condone it, or even ignore it. What it does mean is I am powerless to do anything about it... and I have to accept that fact. Nor does it mean that I have to accept "unacceptable behavior." Today I have choices. I no longer have to accept abuse in any form. I can choose to walk away, even if it means stepping out into the unknown. I no longer have to fear "change" or the unknown. I can merely accept it as part of the journey.

Do you understand the saying "Faith without works is dead" Essentially it means that you do not just sit around because your higher power is going to do it all for you; rather you must have action and your higher power will take care of you. It is easy to rest on our laurels and wait for someone else to do the work for us but true healing and real sobriety happens when we take action.

The best form of relapse prevention is to not use. It may seem hard to find a way out of the obsession but there is a power greater than you that can help. This past while there has been numerous overdoses, it is unfortunate that this is a part of addiction but it is a reality. Why wait when you can get help right now. There are thousands of people that are willing to help a struggling addict/alcoholic, ask for help before its too late.

Thought for the Day We in A.A. are offering a spiritual program. The fundamental basis of A.A. is belief in some Power greater than ourselves. This belief takes us off the center of the universe and allows us to transfer our problems to some power outside of ourselves. We turn to this Power for the strength we need to get sober and stay sober. We put our drink problem in God's hands and leave it there. We stop trying to run our own life and seek to let God run it for us. Do I... do my best to give spiritual help? Meditation for the Day God is your healer and your strength. You do not have to ask Him to come to you. He is always with you in spirit. At your moment of need He is there to help you. Could you know God's love and His desire to help you, you would know that He needs no pleading for help. Your need is God's opportunity. You must learn to rely on God's strength whenever you need it. Whenever you feel inadequate to any situation, you should realize that the feeling of inadequacy is disloyalty to God. Just say to yourself: I know that God is with me and will help me to think and say and do the right thing. Prayer for the Day I pray that I may never feel inadequate to any situation. I pray that I may be buoyed up by the feeling that God is with me.

Let's talk about a sobriety date. It may seem like its not important but when you really think about it...it is! We have all paid a huge price to make it to treatment, so our sobriety date should be really important. Keep that date and live a sober happy life. We learn in AA and other 12 step programs to live one day at a time. If we do not put our sobriety first, then it will no longer be important and relapse is inevitable. Take your sobriety date serious, you earned the right to turn your life around.

"Accept the things that you cannot change." These words somedays can mean the difference between having a good day or just feeling messed up. By saying these words or the entire serenity prayer when entering a situation that you need help with, the power that comes along with these words will amaze you. People, place and things may always remain the same but when we change ourselves and our attitude, those things that once annoyed us become clearer to understand and let go.
