Due to fear of contracting COVID-19, people in Malawi who are already vulnerable because of the effects of HIV and AIDS have increased concerns about accessing medication and community support. The Presbyterian World Service & Development-supported Ekwendeni Hospital AIDS Program (EHAP) has been supporting those whose lives are impacted by HIV and AIDS for decades. Acknowledging these increased concerns, EHAP continues to provide community health support through physically distanced workshops to helps families learn how to cook nutritiously with limited ingredients. #presbyterian #Malawai #dailyprayers #prayforthem

Today marks the 54th anniversary of the tragic death of Chanie Wenjack, an Anishinaabe boy, who at the tender age of 12, ran away from the PCC-run Cecilia Jeffrey Residential School to return home, only to be found dead by hunger and exposure to harsh weather. It is said that the story of Chanie along with the painful legacy of residential schools is being taught in at least 40,000 classrooms across the country. Links and resources to learn more have been compiled at: https://presbyterian.ca/20//29/remembering-chanie-wenjack/ #presbyterian #church #dailyprayers #prayforthem

In South Sudan, years of civil conflict have left much of the population without access to the food they need to live healthy lives. Rising food prices and loss of income due to COVID-19 are only increasing this deficit. Presbyterian World Service & Development is responding through Canadian Foodgrains Bank to provide 1,150 families with food assistance that will meet their nutritional needs. Additionally, families will receive farming supplies and fishing equipment so that, when the season is right for growing and fishing, they will have access to alternative sources of nutrition. #presbyterian #dailyprayer #prayforthem #church
