Opportunity for qualified local carpenters! Crews will be working on removing snow from residential streets behind the movie theatre (102nd St. Behind theatre, 103rd St. Behind theatre, 101A Ave.), as well as, on 86 Ave in the North End on Friday, January 8, 2021. Please assist us by removing any vehicles parked on those streets for the duration of the day.

The post-Christmas season and into the new year is sometimes a very hard time for folks. Here is some information on local supports for Addictions and Mental Health. If you require information about other local support services, please give our Peace River FCSS department a call at 780-624-1000 and our staff will do their best to help link you with supports that fit your need(s).

This coming summer we will again be blanketing some utility boxes in Peace River with local art this year we’re looking for quilters! Deadline to submit is 2:00 pm, February 5, 2021.

Crews will be working on removing snow in Shaftesbury Estates and the South End on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Please remove vehicles from the streets in Shaftesbury Estates on January 6. In the South End we will be working on 101 St., 114 Ave., 115 Ave., 110 Ave., and 103 St. If you live on those streets please remove your vehicle from the streets on January 6.

A public hearing is scheduled for Monday December 14, 2020 regarding Bylaw 2079 which redistricts Plan 7920666, Block A, Lot 4 (10108 100 Avenue) from the Mixed Commercial-Residential District (C-R) to the Community Development District (COM) for the purpose of enabling an Emergency Shelter at the site. Details on how to make a submission are on our website.

Town Council provided third reading to Bylaw 2076, the Face Coverings Bylaw. This Bylaw is in effect now and will remain in effect until 14 days after regional case numbers drop below 10 active cases. While in effect the Face Coverings Bylaw requires all persons to wear a face covering over their nose and mouth while in an indoor public premise or a public vehicle. Exemptions include: children under five-years-old, or persons with an underlying medical condition or disability... which inhibits their ability to wear a face covering. It is offence under this Bylaw to harass any person who wears or does not wear a face covering. Business owners can find signage on our website that can be downloaded and printed. The closure of 94 St., River Road, between 91 Ave. and 94 Ave., has been extended until further notice. Alberta Transportation has informed us that more utility work is required, they are working with contractors and utility companies to complete line relocation work, an update will be provided when the road is planned to reopen. Alberta Transportation has also informed us that work on the 98 St. underpass is progressing well, it is expected to reopen in the near future. Once we receive a confirmed opening date we will share it.

Snow removal is scheduled for parts of downtown and the South End on Friday, November 20, 2020. Tap or click on the link to view the map with details on which streets are scheduled. Please help us by keeping your car off the marked streets from 5 am to 5 pm. Please note Main Street and 101 St. (from 100 Ave. to the Heart River Bridge) will be completed overnight and is not subject to the 5 am to 5 pm parking restriction.
