Check out this weeks exercise for a little after work sweat! This week its the Straight Arm Front Plank. Straight Arm Front Planks are really great whole body exercises as they require engaging all limbs, joints and muscles to stabilize and control from your feet to your head. Any area that is not engaged breaks the kinetic chain and makes you less stable. It is also a great exercise for all abilities as you can adjust the difficulty and intensity by varying the movement (row or rotations for example), the weight (dumbbells or no dumbbells) and your stance (wide feet, narrow stance or from the knees). The focus should always remain on the core/hips and maintaining correct posture - maintain the plank! Remember to start small and build gradually. This week’s exercise is the Upright Row / High Pulls. This exercise focuses on strengthening the shoulders, biceps and upper traps. Remember it’s important to engage your core muscles and ensure you keep your back straight. This exercise is a multi-joint exercise which means that you can move more weight and ignite more muscle fibres during the movement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-HucsgnkEI
