Happy to announce that as part of our 2nd Annual Tournament, even with all the challenges Covid-19 put in front of us, we were still able to present the Cabot Trail Arena with a cheque in the amount of $10,000.00. Thank you to all the sponsors, players, volunteers and anyone else who helped make our event another success and most importantly- keep Phillip’s legacy alive! Our 2nd annual tournament was another big success! Thank you to all our sponsors, players, and volunteers! We will be making an announcement later this week with our final tally. Congratulations to Jeannette Chiasson on winning the 50/50 draw, Terry Deveaux on winning the 19+ hockey pool (5-3), and Brittany Aucoin on winning the 35+ hockey pool. Also a big congrats to 19+ champs Cheticamp Rockets and 35+ champs Baddeck Jazz!

On February 6th, 2021, we helped facilitate a virtual fundraising event put on in memory of the late Albert Poirier of Cheticamp. The event was a musical performance by country singer Serge Caissie to celebrate Lisa Poirier's birthday. We are pleased to present a cheque of $705.00 to the Cabot Trail Arena on behalf of this event. Hello everyone! As much as we would love to fill the rink on March 13th with fans from near and far, the current coronavirus regulations are not permitting us to do so (we are limited to 100 spectators). That being said, we have decided to sell squares for a pool for the 35 & Over championship game to anyone who might not be able to attend the tournament for one reason or another. The cost is $20 per square and the prize will be $500 in gift cards from LOCAL businesses!! If y...ou are from away and can’t make it to the event, this is the perfect opportunity for you to still contribute to our cause and help us in keeping Phillip’s legacy alive!! Tonight’s the night!! 6pm!

This Saturday, February 6th, 2021 between 6-8pm AST, Serge Caissie will be performing a Facebook Live Birthday show to celebrate Lisa Poirier's 47th Birthday. During this show (before and after as well..), we will be accepting donations to our cause in honor of Lisa's father, the late Albert Poirier. Here is an excerpt from Lisa's husband's (Rob Myette) original post. "Serge will be singing some classics from the past such as George Jones, Don Williams, Keith Whitley, Ricky ...Skaggs and much, much more. What we're suggesting, for Lisa’s birthday, if anybody would like to make a donation via email, (email address is below) any monies will be donated to the Cheticamp Arena to help with the payments of the new clock. The donation will be made in the name of Albert Poirier, Lisa’s dad who passed last March. Garçon was a well known guitar player, Boilermaker, as well as one of the original people who helped build the rink. The live show will be from 6pm-8pm Atlantic time on Saturday evening. The charitable cause will not be discussed during the show, however, feel free to share my post over the next week. The Cabot Trail arena was built in the late 70s by many dedicated volunteers from the community of Cheticamp. Since then it has been a stronghold of the community where friends of all ages gather for some great entertainment. As a non-profit organization, we appreciate the kindness of people’s donations of all sizes." Thank you to everyone who was involved with our golf tournament yesterday. Thanks to Pat & the staff at Le Portage. Safe to say everyone had a great time. And we were able to raise some money for a good cause in the process. See you in March for our hockey tournament! *Prizes can be picked up at Le Portage pro shop.
